"EPA modeling and power-plant operator announcements show that EPA regulations will close at least 28 gigawatts (GW) of American generating capacity, the equivalent of closing every power plant in the state of North Carolina or Indiana. Also, 28 GW is 8.9 percent of our total coal generating capacity."

The following link lists the plants that will be shut down due to EPA regulations.

If you live in these five states apparently you will feel it the worst.

Current announcements and EPA projections indicate that EPA regulations have a dramatic impact on states reeling from economic hardship.
    • Ohio: 2,894 MW retired, 8.6% of state total generating capacity.
    • West Virginia: 2,448 MW retired, 14% of state total generating capacity.
    • Indiana: 2,168 MW retired, 7.5% of state total generating capacity.
    • Tennessee: 1,376 MW retired, 6.2% of state total generating capacity.
    • Missouri: 1,325 MW retired, 6.3% of state total generating capacity.
    • Wisconsin: 902 MW retired, 5% of state total generating capacity.

The poor people who'll die from being unable to pay for rising energy prices will certainly reduce CO2 emissions.

WIN-WIN for the environmentalists.

I don't consider myself an environmentalist, but how dumb does one have to be to support coal companies that cannot clean up their act? They don't deserve to stay open if they cannot meet regulations. Clean air should always be of more value than saving money on electricity.

sorry, not a federal matter but a state matter. if you dont like it, then say something to the states. the BoR says it has nothing to do with the feds.

when people are paying $1000 or more a month for electricity, then people might be changing their mind. sooner or later we will end up paying that much.

also, if you dont like the coal plants, then open up more nuke plants.

When pollution from a coal power plant crosses state lines, it becomes a federal issue... period.

Please educate yourself and try to understand the commerce clause.

Maybe the "clean air folks" can sign up to pay the bills for those who won't be able to afford em now? Any takers? Or you can just let em freeze in the winter. The only hope you loons have is that man made global warming is real so it warms up all over so nobody freezes but in your twisted minds your trying to stop that too so in reality you want folks to freeze and die.

You and others like you really need to step away from the ledge.

The EPA is not going to come in, rob you, and hold your family hostage while forcing you to green your house.

Settle down.
