Why do we need a theme park only for Hispanics? Isn't that legal segregation?
That's what they want. They don't want to hear English being spoken, they want their own parks with their own Spanish speaking signs, Spanish speaking rangers and guides, Spanish speaking cartoon characters, and all their own country's traditions. They want no hint of anything American.
They want to remake the USA into one of their hispanic paradises that they abandoned.
Cesar Chavez day is fine -- Cesar Chavez wanted illegal immigration stopped. He was just an American labor leader.
You've obviously never been to Sitka, Alaska. The Russian history is "celebrated" there.
You're right. I haven't been. Nobody has. One town of less than 10k "celebrating" Russian history because it was founded by Russians? Good for them.
Plenty of towns in the southwest already "celebrate" their "Latino" (better known as, Mexican) history and culture.
In terms of "ignored histories," Latinos are probably the last in line to complain. Especially when there is no common "Latino history" beyond a shared ancestral conquerer.

Because themed parks are just that - recreational parks with a theme. Cultural themes are interesting and pretty amazing if done correctly. They are able to teach and introduce children to different cultures and make it enjoyable at the same time.
I don't see why one couldn't make an American-themed park. As long as it's interesting and the rides are great, I'd go to one.
And now I'm craving a bread bowl stew from the Ireland section of Busch Gardens...
And what Salazar and the rest want is not to gather up their own hard earned money and build such a theme park, they want the government to come along and do it for them.
Nothing is stopping the latinos from putting their money together and investing in something, they can make it all Spanish, they can do whatever they want with it, and if Americans feel the need to go and hear Spanish spoken, eat some tacos because they couldn't find a Taco Bell near them, and listen to some Mexican oom-pah music because they couldn't hear it being played in their neighborhood loudly at 3am, then fine. The park should be a hit. Or they can make their park just for themselves because that's what it would end up being. It should be their money however that gets risked on such an investment.
There are only 22 latino nations -- so why don't they stay in them if latino culture is so wonderful? Somehow it's only wonderful with American money and welfare programs. With Mexico right next door, there is no reason at all these people can't make a trip back home and visit their country's theme parks there.
Some believe this is their country and want it to be back in Mexcio's hands.
