I just hope we all realize one thing about these handwritten signs tugging at our heart strings and bringing tears to our eyes. Today, a handwritten note is not more legible, not cheaper to produce, and not even faster than typing and printing it. I seriously doubt if these people who can post it on the Internet are without either a printer or some basic image manipulation software. It's basic marketing folks.

I wish she would have shown her face. I'd like to see how old a college senior is who has been working 30 hours a week. Must be a soft major. Also, with 90% of things paid for it would be easy for most to avoid too much debt. I'm not going to bash anyone or claim it can't be done (under the right circumstances anything can be done) but I also know an internet hoax with I see it.

My son can beat that. He's going to a CC, lives at home, and I'm paying for it. My average, 3.0 gpa kids did not qualify for scholarships anyway.

I also have to question the working 30 plus hours a week and maintaining a 3.8 GPA.

I had part time jobs in college and unless you have something like a work study assignment(like sitting in the dormitory office answering the phone) where you can sit and study it is almost impossible to carry a full load and work those kind of hours.

And most work study jobs average about 10 to 15 hours a week.

I worked about 20 hours a week when I was in college and I know my grades suffered because of it at times. When you're rolling pizza dough at 10pm while others are studying for the test the next morning it takes away from you could be achieving.

I just don't buy that and then getting scholarships for "decent grades".

This is starting to sound more like I walked to school in the snow 5 miles everyday, uphill both ways.

Cool story bro

Your generation is, for the most part, a complete joke. Memo to you.... you will never be 1/1000th the man your grandfather was because you expect everything handed to you like most of your spoiled and clueless generation. What do you or most of todays teens stand for besides Jersey Shore or texting? Wow, you guys really set yourselves up for respect.

Previous generations actually worked for what they have and actually stood for something. The 60's generation gave us civil rights for example and you clowns keep crying racism over nothing. What is the big issue to todays youth? Legalizing pot?!? What a joke, although it should be legalized.

Instead of sitting around watching reality tv, playing video games and spoing whatever drugs there are to be smoked, why not follow previous generations and develop a better work ethic. No jobs? Why not try and start a business.

The entitlement mentality of the youth is a big reason why we will continue to flounder (as one of many reasons though... you guys are not TOTALLY to blame)

I agree with this... I'm not saying it can't be done either, but that's quite a stretch to be working 30 hours a week, be an on-time senior and somehow have good grades. Probably a VERY soft major.

I'm in engineering and can't imagine working 30 hours a week on top of how busy I already am. For students with majors like mine, sometimes not even a part time job is an option if you want to be awake and functioning to complete assignments. Of course, if I weren't in the band then that would free up 10-15 hours a week for a light job, which may happen next semester when there is no band. But full-time? Holy Jesus.

I call bs on this story. Two scholarships for average grades?? Live comfortably working part time at minimum wage, while paying for college?

Anyone who makes minimum wage and thinks he is part of the wealthiest 1% could not get a scholarship.

Did you read your own post? Or is it humor? Sometimes it's hard to tell on forums.

America went from being a global powerhouse with 80% of the world's industrial capacity in 1950 to being near bankrupt without a manufacturing base in 2010 and our generation is the joke.

Not to mention we have entitlement programs that we are told we must pay into for our working lives, but shouldn't expect to reap the benefits of ourselves.
