I'm making freedom fries at this very moment with potatoes (pomme de terre) that I bought in, of all evil places, France.

Yes, it's true.

6 of one, half-dozen of the other. If you prefer your wording instead of my use of 'murder,' fine. But again, they applied the word to any and every kind of spending, from art spending to the purchase of naked scan machines for airports. Now people like Obama and Pelosi are quietly dropping the word from their vocab. 'Murder' still fits as far as I'm concerned.

"Patriotism." My Lord, has anyone ever manipulated and misused that word as badly and as often as did the Bush Administration? They smugly used it--and it's derivative, "patriotism"-- in two primary ways: ONE: to call in to groundlessly call into question the "patriotism" of anyone who was against their reckless cowboy tactics in waging the misbegotten Iraqi War.
TWO: Using it in the title of the Patriot Act, which, well, basically robbed you guys of your 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendment Rights. How do ya like them apples?
Hmm..that reminds me of an old quote that fits nicely here: "Patriotism" the last refuge of a scoundrel."
I agree with you here, but remember that the 'Patriot Act.' passed 99-1 in the Senate, so it was supported by Democrats including Kerry, Edwards, Lieberman, and Biden (Obama was not yet a Senator). And was largely based on the anti-terror bill pushed by Bill Clinton, which in fact none other than Joe Biden claimed credit for:
Newsvine - In 1995 Joe Biden Basically Wrote The PATRIOT Act.

In short I agree with you regarding the role of W Bush, but to single out W Bush alone is misleading. The dems were fully along for that ride.

It was turned into a dirty word because of the stimulus FAILURE, which the GOP has pummeled the democrats and obama with.

The reason they won't use it anymore.

In 2009, when the Obama Administration constantly made reference to "stimulus spending" and "stimulus funds," the media unquestioningly accepted the terminology. Did it really stimulate the economy to build a skateboard park? The question didn't seem to occur to the media; if the admin called something "stimulus," then the media did too.

Contrast that to the hubub over a term coined by Sarah Palin: "death panel." The mere term generated at least a couple of months worth of controversy. My local newspaper reported that the very term was "debunked" by all the experts, and thereafter the term was always accompanied with a disclaimer, e.g. "so-called death panels."

As of October, 2011, it appears that Dems have quietly sent "stimulus" to the "death panel" so to speak.

Here, the Christian Science Monitor notes that the admin has quietly dropped the word. It's like a neighborhood dog that one day stops barking. You tend not to notice unless someone points it out, then it's "oh yeah, where'd it go?"
For job creation, is government a help or hindrance? - CSMonitor.com

And the hill.com reports that Nancy Pelosi has also dropped "stimulus" from her vocabulary:
Pelosi drops the word 'stimulus' - TheHill.com

Yet another perfectly good word thus has been murdered by Democrats. The mafia used to murder rival gangsters in order to protect their turf. Democrats murder words.
The dems are the self appointed speech police, deciding which words are fit to speak; to steal a variation of the NYT motto.

Exactly, if the Obama Stimulus acts would have worked, every submitted legislation would be stimulus this, and stimulus that. The absence of the word is an admission by the dems that Obama's stimulus failed big time.
