You seem to believe that pointing out that the rich will not likely be going to heaven seems to imply that the person pointing that out covets a wealthy persons money. That is not a grasp of biblical concepts, nor is it even a grasp of logic.

What you are implying is that Jesus coveted the wealth of others. That may well be your belief being a pagan, but it is not accepted beliefs of Christians. Funny though.

Liberals confuse government confiscation, in the form of socialism, with charity. They are entirely different and there is nothing in the Bible that supports government confiscation of assets and income to provide for others at their discretion.
So basically you give me your opinion that I am wrong, but with nothing to support your opinion. Well done.

I know it is easy for posters to try to focus on the poster than to actually debate the topic, but I am not a very easy target to ridicule. I am losing money by talking to you as I bill by the hour, but I enjoy it, which means I will have to finish my real work at home tonight, but thanks for worrying about me.

Most Christians feel that the verse written so long ago have everything to do with their everyday life. Which begs the question, if you are not a Christian, why do you bother posting on this thread?

Do you have anything else to talk about the topic?
I am a Christian. But thank you for trying to judge, anyway.

But just because I try to adhere to the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth does NOT mean that I harbor such hate for wealthy people that I secretly wish for class warfare, or a Marxist-like uprising of the proletariat as you seem to.
Rather, I am convinced that what Jesus meant by your quote in the OP was exactly what I said in my first post: He was talking about the love of and desire for riches and power that can cause a man problems when he's trying to lead a Christian life. Unlike so many so-called Christians today, who seem hell-bent on dividing people (you sorta come to mind) I, rather, would rather see us all try to get along and peacefully co-exist during this very, very short time we spend here on Earth.
Peace Out, hombres.

If you want to talk about Christianity and OWS, feel free to start a thread. I may even post on it, although I don't see it being that interesting. Surprise me.
Interesting how you twist your points to win a debate. Sad, but interesting.

Who harbors hate for wealthy people. Why do people keep saying that? I harbor hate for no man. Where does that come from? I am not seeking any kind of uprising. It would be my hope that the truly wealthy see the folly of their decisions on their own. There are not many Christan billionaires. I can only think of one, if you can name more than that please let me know. Mathmatically, the odds of so few Christians being billionaires in a country that has so many of both seems a little improbable don't you think. Unless of course it is actually difficult to become that wealthy and still follow the teachings of Christ. Something to ponder in your free time.

Of course not. However, like most liberals, you simply refuse to read anything that refutes your initial contention.

This was from my post # 74, which you did not read. Why? You can't teach a Sneetch.

Why do liberals quote the Bible, when most of them are atheists and don't believe in what the Bible says anyway? The funny thing is that you sat back with "smug satisfaction", thinking that you have used an instrument familiar to conservatives , the Bible, to demonstrate a hypocrisy in their core beliefs. All you did was make yourself look silly. Liberals are like very poor chess players who cannot see beyond one move.

Here are a few Biblical passages to ponder which suggest that people should get off thier butts and work and not rely upon the government for thier existence.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
Proverbs 19:15
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
Thessalonians 3:10
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Ephesians 4:28
8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
1 Timothy 5:8

Maybe you and I have different definitions as to how we define Luxury.

Maybe you should look at worldwide standards of what luxury entails. Many would consider indoor plumbing, heating, and air conditioning to be "luxury". I see you're still denying that you're one of the rich you claim are going to hell when you take into consideration worldwide standards of living. Or do people living in squalor without shelter, food, or water not concern your entrance-to-heaven standards if they don't live in the US? Whatever helps you sleep better at night....
