The government allowed it. Remember the governments there took over all that business because all those animals were becoming extinct.

Only the governments found out trophy hunting was a cash cow to them.

What's he going to do now? I don't understand this type of killing, even if you want to hang it on your wall. It seems like a waste.

Trophy hunting pays for all the conservation efforts and park rangers to stop poaching. An old animal can die naturally (though most will not live to an old age because of poachers) or it can be sold to a trophy hunter (where the animal is used to feed the local population) and the money goes to preserve the rest of the species.

Over the last few decades the above process has been put into place and the population numbers have skyrocketed and wild life preserves have increased dramatically in both size and staffing to protect the animals from poachers in many countries because of trophy hunters.

Not to mention many species have dominate males who at the end of their life span can no longer reproduce. This prevents years worth of child rearing as younger males cannot mate with females. The trophy Hunter that kills the dominate non reproducing male will actually be increasing the size of the population over 5-10 years.

Or you can just get upset without understanding the dynamics of the situation because you think hunting certain animals is bad.

What a bunch of tripe. Revenue from non-hunting tourism is 1,000 times higher than hunting revenue. "Billions, compared to millions". Source: One Point Of View On How Lions Can Earn Money For Africa : Goats and Soda : NPR

And what about the hunter who kills the dominant reproducing male with cubs even? What happens to those cubs? They are killed by the other males.

You actually think a hunter knows or cares what animal he's killing? LOL!!

Or you can just make up a bunch of phony data to try to justify the narcissistic slaughter of endangered species.

You really don't know what you are talking about.

Females or packs with males who do not reproduce because of the dominate male being the only reproductive member take care of the new borns. If the dominate male is killed then either another male will become dominate or the female will continue taking care of the new borns. Not to mention that the animal to be hunted is preselected based on it being towards the end of its life to not impact the growth of the species.

Just look at the species counts, all the endangered and threatened animals have flourished under the trophy hunting programs because they fund the game wardens to ward off poachers. Plus the animals that are killed go to feeding the local populations, nothing it wasted, everyone wins including the specific species being hunted. Hunters are the original conservationists, they founded most of the conservation societies we have today.

You are out of your depth.

The utterly panic stricken progressives who really mean well are about to stop African big game hunting.

here are some (not all) of the actual consequences of their actions.
1. there will be no more money for conservation programs that keep these animal populations healthy.
2. locals that are often fed by these hunts will no longer receive this benefit and will start over hunting the now less healthy animal populations
3. there will be less money for poacher enforcement.
4. predator big game will become more aggressive as they will have fewer animals to hunt
5. people will die.

Liberals the world over will celebrate that they have stopped the wanton slaughter of big game animals by filthy ultra rich westerners.

progs will be utterly bewildered by the increased poverty and struggle of the marginal populations in Africa and the dwindling herds of the wildlife in Africa.

they will blame the uber rich dirty westerners for the terrible conditions they caused.
the dead wont care.
