Same squealing went on in Iowa when they started the casino's. Same in every state. Now instead of not getting the tax money from gamblers they do. Same folks who empty their coffers before it was legalized still do. Now they responsible gamblers have a place they can enjoy too and not in some guy's basement.

That is a neat museum.

If you are not an inmate that is going to the federal pen in Leavenworth what region is to be your area.

When the regressives in Kansas ask for their Federal aid, and they will, the Federal Government should say sorry, you reject us and treat your citizens like a second class citizens then you are on your own. The next elections will undo this current example of Kansas thinking

I'm betting the next elections will sweep more of the same thinkers into office in Kansas and other states like happened in '10. Most are tired of seeing tax dollars thrown in the trash can over and over agains. Many who didn't have a clue what the national debt and deficit and the insane spending by government have been awoken here lately. The commies are on their way out. Good riddance. In my district, very heavy democrat, the local rep who held her seat for twenty years was beaten by a repub challenger in '10. Folks are still shocked around here, well the hard core loons are. Of course their little buddies will never own up to who they really voted for most likely. Now all they can do is squeal about her anti abortion stance.

And best of all, this state isn't bankrupt.

I don't LIKE the guy but his economic policies are necessarily drastic.
His social issue stances I hate.

That we went from Sebelius to Brownback shows that this state wants a strong economy and unfortunately we had to put an arch social conservative in place to get that.

How is your state doing?
How do KS schools ranked in this country? This is all I could find:

And things here in NH are quite fine. Unemployment is below 5% (lower in my neck of the woods) despite a Democtractic governor. no state income tax. No sales tax. From the beaches to the mountains, its an attractive state for people to live in.. definitely not flat.

Isn't the PRC also the state with the largest population? So what is the per-capita job growth compared with, oh, say Texas?

Ironically, that list is packed with prep, charter and other magnet schools. They are no doubt excellent schools, several of my friends attended Lane Tech in Chicago. The problem however is that those types of schools are indicative of a tiering educational system....often in cities with bad public schools. They merely siphon off the top talent to magnet schools like the ones on your list.

This is the school my kids will go to, there are not *magnet schools* in the area skewing things and most are of this general quality.

Shawnee Mission Northwest included in nation's best high schools list | ShawneeDispatch.com

P.S. How are those property taxes working for you. Just kidding NH generally has pretty low overall taxes, they just hit you hard in some areas and not at all in others.
