Consider the complexity of the attacks of 9/11 is anyone surprised by the lack of attacks in the ten years plus that followed? Sure there were three supposed attacks. The shoe bomb, the underwear bomb, and then there was the SUV bomb in Times Square and all failed to go off. I find that very surprising because the most feared weapon of our military is the IED. These terrorist are masters at making bombs out of almost nothing it seems. They blow themselves up many times and unfortunately blow a lot of good Americans up too. One thing for sure those bombs go off. Of the supposed three attacks all the bombs fizzled out and I find that unbelievable. Just where is this great threat that allows a federal agency to anger and molest the public? Is this agency so good that they stop attacks before they happened? LOL.

Do your remember the Beltway Sniper who shut down the D.C corridor for a week? After massive searches of all the resources the government could muster they failed to stop the shooting. By accident, and only by accident, they found the culprits sleeping in a car in a park. One was a mental ill man teamed with a special needs child. I doubt there was any other attempted attacks on the US. If there were we would have seen the feds padding themselves on their backs on every TV station.

As SoEdible said, we had enough security prior to 9/11. If you want to question a real issue about 9/11 ask why all our jet fighters were absent from the skies that day. Secondly with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan the US is missing tons of weapons and shoulder fired missiles are among them. If these terrorist are so dangerous why hasn't any airliner anywhere been shot down?

It should really make you wonder what the real purpose of the TSA is.

Actually the new body scanners cannot see into the anus or vagina, nor can they see under rolls of fat. Ergo they are not going to solve the problem.

It is interesting that most of the EU has rejected these scanners as they have over a 50% error rate yet the U.S. keeps marching along.

Terrorist incidents on planes were quite uncommon both before and after 9/11. We always had airline security. The TSA is just another over-stepping, worthless agency that at best merely violates our person freedoms and at worst is even less efficient than post-TSA screening procedures.

Security has been there for decades. When traveling to Florida the fear back then was the plane would get hijacked to Cuba.

That's right and, back then, flight crews were advised to not fight the hijackers and to take them wherever they wanted. That changed after 9/11.

That was one of the good changes made to security procedures following 9/11.

Well they weren't blowing up planes to strike fear in the hearts of Americans.
These were people that were in the US and wanted to go to Cuba but had no way to do it except to hijack the plane.

Different motives.

I, for one, choose to not be molested and enjoy my personal freedoms over the overly paranoid TSA and the taking away of my freedoms in the name of false senses of security.

Have you seen any road closures to those very common highwys or secondary roads that commonly transit near the very end of runways at many airports? NOPE!. Have you ever seen TSA or even local cops patrolling those roads in greater frequency than the norm? NOPE!

A lot of cities have highrise buildings within a LAW missile range; TSA on the roofs of them? NOPE!

TSA are simply a feel-good panacea to create the illusion flying is being made safer by your friendly government. NOT!

You've sacrificed a valuable tenet of the constitution to nothing more than a job creation boon-doggle that does absolutely nothing to ensure the safety of the flying public; nothing whatsoever!
How do you know where government agencies are? You don't think that just because YOU don't know about something that it doesn't go on, do you? Really? How some of you THINK you know everything about something so sensitive as counter-terrorism operations is amazing.
