I don't rationalise rape.
I don't rationalise murder.

So I don't listen to fools who rationalise slavery, murder, kidnapping, torture, and treason.

My great great grandfather fought the United States in a North Carolina outfit. I don't know much about him, but I generally assume the best of people until they prove otherwise. So, I assume that it is a black mark on an otherwise good life. I'm not proud that he took up arms against this great nation that I love and fight for. I'm not proud that he fired on troops who carried the flag I wear on my uniform. I realize, however, that sometimes foolishnesses can infect a people. I sincerely hope he lived to regret his treasonous actions after he was treated so kindly by this nation after his army was defeated on the battlefield. I hope in 2012 all southerners feel they are Americans first, southerners second.
Pissing on anybody's headstone is a sign of insecurity and an inferiority complex. Those that choose to abuse dead people are just small minded and lack any shadow of self confidence or self respect.

Would I actually **** on their graves???..no, I wouldn't demean my ancestors who endured the treatment of southern whites so that I could have what I have today.
I would more than likely simply ignore the headstones of confederate trash, like all garbage world wide, I wouldn't like the stink.

1. The Nazi policy of genocide for those races/groups deemed "sub-human." NOTHING remotely was comparable in Southern history.
2. At the time of the WBTS, slavery still existed in the Western world. And it was being struggled with in the same, as a moral question (in the American South as well). Whereas? Those enslaved in Nazi Germany were at a time when it had disappeared from said Western Civilization for almost a century...and then was brought back.
Too? Those enslaved by the nazi's were literally starved, beaten, and worked to death. Not even the severest critic of slavery as it existed in America alleges such inhumanity was commonplace. Sure, there were sadistic slaveowners, but there were still laws in the Southern states against deliberate mistreatment and slaveowners were obligated by law and common humanitarian/Christian ethics to take care of the sick, injured and old.
3. The Confederate States of America was a constitutional republic like the United States. Nazi Germany was a dictatorship. Free speech, religion, assembly, bearing arms, etc. did not exist in the latter, and in fact, could be punishable by death if deemed to be harmful to the state.
4. Nazi Germany pursued a militaristic and agressive foriegn policy with the intention of world domination. The Confederacy only wanted to be left alone and peacefully pursue its own destiny.
5. The political principles the South fought for were deeply rooted in those set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution (which itself had largely been written by Southerners).
Really? You mean the slave owners in the South believed that African slaves were created equal to them and that they had the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?
You mean you forget that the Southern traitors started the war by bombarding a sovereign United States military installation?
You mean that owning, selling, raping, and and working human beings without compensation is your idea of humanitarian and Christian treatment?

I live eight miles from where that photo was taken. The native people of this area are as sophisticated, kind and well mannered as any I've encountered across the country. It's unfair to impugn them with that photo. Shall I post the picture of the Bostonian from the 70s beating a black man with an American flag in a misguided attempt to make an ignorant point about all urban Irish Catholics?

I wasnt there,were you.He was found guilty in a court of law and it went to the supreme court and they refused to overturn the conviction.The high court knew he would be lynched yet refused to step in.Guess what,not a single Southerner was on the Sumpreme court.So the northern dominated court did not stop this.He had the best lawyers money could buy and was lynched 3 yrs after the murder.So he had due process.So what is your point?
Well, let's go back in history. Boston gave us slavery. And it was the Northeast that gave us the Scarlet Letter hypocrisy. So don't try to tell anyone that Northerners took the moral high ground. They did not. They hated blacks and tried to move all of them out of the country.

The Confederate States were NOT at war with the United States as we think of the United States today. It was Southern states against northern states and both sides considerered themselves Americans.
The northern states kept the name "United States" only by default. That is it. The original Confederate States of America offered to negotiate a mutally beneficial economic and defensive alliance with the Old Union. And open up the Mississippi River for free trade and navigation. They had NO plans to invade the North whatsover. All they wanted was to go their own way in peace. Instead, Lincoln chose to invade the Lower South beause, as he later pretty much said? "The Southern states furnished most of the tax money."
