Of course they're still my friends....but I can't say definitively that it's something that I will agree with them on should we ever broach the subject.

Goes to show that the Liberal Faction as you claim is not only looking out for Liberals but all of those that are out there struggling. It would really be interesting to know how many conservatives refunded the money back to the states instead of depending on BIG GOVERNMENT to rescue them.

Not perfect, but decent and positive people. I'm very picky as to who I keep company with, maybe this is the reason I don't have tons of close friends. Quality over quanitity.

Anecdotal, yes. But I find this to be highly suspect. What are the chances of not finding a job in the previous 99 weeks that unemployment benefits were flowing, but on the 100th week.......when UI benefits are exhausted..... all of a sudden a job presents itself?

How many millions of Americans are milking my wallet dry in order to live on Easy Street?
It's kind of similar to when Welfare Reform was being debated in the mid-90s. Publications such as the NYT painted dire, apocalyptic pictures of millions of Americans out on the street because the safety net failed them.

Guess what? Welfare Reform passed, ridding the system of people who had just been gaming the largesse of the Federal government for decades. There was no spike in homelessness. People just found work.

Mind you, welfare is a legitimate function of government. And the vast majority of its beneficiaries need it for legitimate, short-term purposes. However, there is a distinct minority who will milk the system for all it's worth.

As someone who was involved in housing projects for a while, I learned that while the monthly benefit check isn't very high, there are people who are quite content to take that money and combine it with some cash-only jobs such as mowing lawns and living on a subsistence level rather than work a full-time job. And I really don't want to pay for that as a taxpayer.

I find that to be problematic because it creates a whole new mentality in our workforce, as well as unsustainable reliance on the government.

I take a much bigger issue with the Idiots in Washington living on Easy Street with my tax dollars and haven't gotten a damn thing accomplished.

Oh please. The biggest money spent in recent years was on bailing out bankers at public expense. Obama's biggest failure is not that he's too liberal but he's far too conservative on economic issues. The filthy rich slime who drove this economy off the cliff have not been called to account because they are major donors to both parties.
