It was his perception that he was detained. Escorted by law enforcement (not TSA) to a cubical and instructed not to leave.
This is what I am trying to get at... was the man TOLD he was not free to leave, or lead to believe he was not free to leave based on some show of force (i.e. he tried to get up and walk away and an officer pulled a taser, or cuffs, or made some gesture to make him feel not free to leave)... or is is this just more political bs fodder for the ignorant masses to consume? If there was some REAL rights violated I would be very interested to hear. So far this sounds like "they were mean to me and didn't let me fly out even though I refused to cooperate" bullcrap.
That's not going to be as damaging of property and life as a commercial plane.
It's pretty simple if you know about homeland security. The homeland security community doesn't pretend to think that it can stop EVERYTHING. The idea is to stop obvious threats and provent what can be prevented.
It's always funny when people start throwing out "If-I-Were-A-Terrorist-I'd-Do-This ...." Well, the homeland security community does sit around and think about what people WOULD do and COULD do. They then take whatever realistic and feasible matters possible to do the best to prevent these threats.
A lot of you guys talk about how the "terrorists won," blah, blah and because "we all live in fear." No ... if we were truly living in a police state that was monitoring and acting on the justified paranoia, then we WOULD be checking every plane that goes in the air.
You should probably start thinking about who is really the brain dead one and be more open-minded in this discussion.
Your attempt at trying to justify you and your employer's existence is pathetic at best.
So the budget of DHS is $55 Billion a year and Janet Napolitano lobbies for increases especially at a time when we are heavily in debt. And where does some of this money go to? A bunch of people sitting around in circles dreaming and imagining fantasy scenarios and concluding that they can't stop everything.
So why are millions more spent on body scanners when metal detectors and random patdowns were kosher up to a year ago? Is it because Janet's predecessor Michael Chertoff is the chief lobbyist for Rapiscan??
I'm sure your employer WOULD check every plane if they could. But this would **** off a bunch of rich people using private jets and not to mention slow down air traffic to a halt. It would be a good recipe for causing a bunch of lobbyists at Washington to breathe down your neck, something even Janet doesn't want.
You know, there are times that I wouldn't be sorry to see an economic collapse so that we would be forced to trim the fat that is people like you.
Good for him. Unreasonable search per our Constitution. Good for him. All of us need to follow that example.
Ok, so the next time you see an American citizen that happens to appear to be of Middle Eastern decent and is wearing the garb of his custom AND is refusing a pat down, you will be cheering his example. Some how I doubt that you will offer the same level of support.
You might want to get your facts straight before posting, and looking foolish once again as you so often do.
Thanks, I am proud of my heritige
