One thing lost, with today's youth, is the fact that Professors are all about Capitalism as they fight for their right to scrape the cream from the puiblic milk bottle. They only care about tenure, and only then will they show their extreme anti-american sentiment. Protecting their incomes first... how capitalistic of those hypocrits.

Am I the only one seeing, on the original link, the school saying this was taken out of context?

Apparently it was from a lesson about propoganda during the Cold War, and they looked at all the different arguments that were being made on both sides.

You can review all the material they used at the link.

I went there too, but I added much of the following

Quote:
The United States of America became the most powerful nation the world has ever seen under capitalism. It provides its citizens with the highest standard of living the world has ever seen under capitalism. It provides its citizens more personal freedoms than the world has ever seen under capitalism. It has generated more Olympic gold medalists and more Nobel prize winners than any other nation despite not being the largest or the most populous nation.
Thanks for the banal history lesson, but its wrong in every way. Socialist counties have typically dominated the Olympics because a central state can divert resources for otherwise unproductive activities just as we see with China repeating this .

The reason why the United States succeeded was due in no small part to free access to natural resources. We are not currently a capitalist society.

Quote:
At the same time there is not one single example of a communist nation that isn't poverty stricken, violent towards its own citizens, and repressive of personal freedoms.

So nobody has to "dictate truth". All you have to do is put down the dogmatic leftist blinders and accept the reality around you.
I consider you the leftist if I had to choose. I have this problem in that I detest the zombie, simulacrum, faux conservatives more than my traditional welfare state enemies on the left. That is usually true since heretics are hated more than pagans, and I am no exception. Thus I would rather ride the rainbow bus out of San Fransisco and make road kill out of royalist republicans who have betrayed us to the old ways of the royalists.

I am dumbfounded how anyone can bleat out their complaints that inherently Marxist public schools pass out Marxist literature. I would think they would.

Here is the real history in a short clinic:

French feudalism loses to British mercantilism loses to early American liberalism( which we have abandoned in favor of British mercantilism and worse still slowly sliding into neo-French style feudalism which will lose to the emergent Chinese mercantilism).

If you want to know what the US was then I suggest you read Adam Smith and John Locke and take note it resembles nothing like us anymore since they were against absentee resource ownership, government sanctioned private monopolies, subsidies, income taxes, debt funded wars and so on. The other option is to pretend to agree with the founders like a good, royalist conservative.

OK lets hear it. When did modern communism first appear and why? Why did it come about, and why and when did it fail?

"We are not currently a capitalist society."

Oh, yes we are! I know! I know that Communism infiltrated the Dem. party and got their own guy elected into the Oval Office and I know they have made inroads into our government in a startling way, and that this subversive president is "fundamentally transforming" our nation.

He, however has not succeeded in destroying capitalism yet. We are still making profits, producing and selling and without question we, as a nation are still capitalists.

No, I have written it before, the content of that video was obviously deliberately taken out of context...

I was referring to his assessment of the US as being the best this and that, regardless of the capitalist vs communist debate. There are lots of other countries out there who are doing better these days, and where people enjoy more freedom... The US was doing OK for about a century, other empires lasted much longer, despite the lack of modern technology thousands of years ago. And even that one century of success was achieved in unsustainable and morally dubious ways.

[Soundbite flag on]
  • Communism abolishes private property (absolute ownership by individuals).
  • Fifth amendment, USCON, protects private property (as do all state constitutions).
  • However, voluntary enrollment into FICA surrenders private property rights.
[flag off]

Since 1935, the U.S. has been a socialist nation in the sense that duly enumerated Americans no longer have absolute ownership. Which explains why they have to pay a tax to buy or own just about everything. And can be dispossessed without being paid "just compensation".

Which provides its own little lesson on propaganda. The Blaze deliberately misleads and hysteria from ignorance predictably follows.
