Obama's approval rating right now is tied to gas prices. It has less than nothing to do with Rush Limbaugh or Sandra Fluke.

I don't think some of you get just how stupid you sound when you say stuff like this.

I do think that birth control should be covered by insurance policy but I also think whoever pays should have the option of dropping that coverage for cheaper insurance premiums... as in, if you want it, you should pay for it... its not treatment of a disease, its purely elective like cosmetic surgery... it would be nice if insurance covers cosmetic surgery as well.. and I wonder those who think birth control pills should be a shared burden for everyone if they think cosmetic surgery should also be a shared burden with everyone...

Politics 101: Not all things that reflect negatively on one side of a debate will reflect positively on the other side and vice versa.

So, Dd714, which is it? Did you fail to read a word of Ms. Fluke's statements, or did you just want to spread a lie?

Perhaps you would like to seek counseling about your need to attack other posters who are speaking to the direct issue, or start your own narrow-issue forum. Perhaps the "Vagina Vent". I would recommend you deal directly with your own anger issues, and you would be willing to consider strong opposing opinions that are not an attack on you as just straightforward discussion. Then, and only then, can you have the fortitude necessary to consider opposing opinions without taking personal offense and launching an attack.

Your post was vulgar and insulting, without question. No matter what issue is under discussion, there is no place in civil discourse for such a
crude and offensive comment. You mistake disgust for anger, which is not surprising in light of the post in question, which displays a breathtaking lack of discernment where social skills are involved. I had sufficient fortitude to make a public comment regarding the offensive language of that post, and stand by it. This post is nothing more than a flippant attempt to belittle me, just as the original post belittled all women who don't agree with whatever narrow views are held by its writer. That original post made no reference to a particular "strong opposing position;"
it was nothing more than a snippet of obscenity and has no place in a discussion between adults. Such an attack might work on a younger woman who is still new to the realm of misogyny, but it's wasted on a woman who has had decades of experience and undertands the insecurity which underlies such apparent loathing of the opposite gender, as well as the need to resort to scatology in order to express it.

Why all this fuss about a pill? If they want to use taxpayer money for this, give them a Depo-Provera shot instead. Less maintenance and less of a chance to miss a dose. It's in the country's interest not to continue to produce single mothers who aren't capable of raising the children they are bearing.

Edit: I also think a Depo shot would make the individual more accountable. It would take away any immediacy to just decide not to take a dose for whatever reason she would decided not to take it.

Please explain how you determined that we're discussing taxpayer money? Contraceptive pills are paid by insurance -- as they have for several decades.
