You just weren't paying attention - the speech was amazing and it grabbed headlines afterwards - Mr. Buchanan was spot on and identified that we did have a culture war going on. That made lots of liberals angry.

I take it that you agree that Spanish dictator Francisco Franco was a savior, he also called Franco, along with Chile's Gen. Pinochet, "soldier-patriots."

Would you also agree that what this country needs is "quasi-dictatorial rule"?

9:11 - Part 2 - quoting Al Gore - "central organizing principal of governments everywhere must be the environment." Then Mr. Buchanan absolutely slams the liberal idea of the economy with this salvo: "wrong Albert - central organizing principle of this republic is freedom".

Pure democracy is nothing more than mob rule.

Having a strong leader who is accountable to the people isn't a bad thing.

Thanks for proving my suspicions of many conservatives, they really don't care about anything but making surd we all march lock, stock and barrel to the beat of some tyrannical dictator.

BTW, Franco and Pinochet were far from accountable to the people.

Who said anything about a "pure democracy"...

Not so - conservatives generally oppose President Obama.

The GOP didn't start the culture war - they fought the good fight in defense.
