Remember, PA went RED in 2010...legislature and Governor.....a very convenient and wonderful time for that to happen BTW. Just in time for the 2012 election.
House passed it...on to the Governor. I take it the Senate has already passed the bill.
Pa. House passes voter ID bill (http://www.philly.com/philly/news/politics/142656906.html - broken link)
Quote:
The bill would mandate that voters show a photo ID such as a driver's license; a student, county, or municipal card; or IDs from a personal-care home.
You need an ID for everything else...why not to vote?
Quote:
If voters show up without a photo ID, they would be allowed to cast a provisional ballot, and then would have six days to present election officials with an acceptable ID.
Sounds reasonable...right?
And if you can prove you can't afford one, the cost will be picked up by the state.
Oh great. Now all of the non-white minorities and old people will be barred from voting and Republicans will take over Pennyslvania and turn into a theocracy. All of these voter ID laws benefit Republicans. If you really think this is a good thing you need to get your head checked.

I live in PA, and I was never barred from voting nor disenfranchised. I always use my DL, and not my simple 8 1/2 x 11 cutout of a voter "ID card" with no picture on it

Why? Because those willing to try voter fraud are more likely to be democrat?
Or are you saying that the "victims" liberals need to succeed are just too dumb to get an ID?
Its not hard to get a valid ID and prove who you are. When you have groups like ACORN, its pretty obvious why we need these laws in place.
It doesn't matter. The DOJ will bar it from going into effect until long after the election.
Republians and conservatives, riddle me this. Potential for fraud, as you are reasoning has existed for years (heck, decades). Why are you so concerned about this issue now as opposed to, say, when Bush was in office?
Pennsylvania is expected to become home to one of the nation's toughest voter identification measures

A bit over the top, wouldn't you say? You mean people of color and old people don't have IDs?
You know, YOU and obama are on the wrong side of this issue. The people overwhelmingly approve of voter id laws.
