Often reports can't get out in most damaged areas. The Fox news studio's were evacuated.

Maybe, but Oaxaca de Juarez is quite some ways from where that epicenter is. The border of Guerrerro and Oaxaca states near the Pacific Coast where they're reporting as the center of the quake is a pretty remote area. There could be bad damage in rural areas, but there aren't a lot of cities nearby in that area. You're going to feel shaking a lot further away, but that might not result in damage.
When there's an earthquake, even when it's only felt as a temblor with no damage, people will evacuate buildings. I've been through several quakes myself.
