Because it's a cheap way to buy votes!

He declared his belief that a marriage is between a man and a woman, now suddenly he thinks two dudes or two dudettes are a marriage? And you people think that this complete 180 of beliefs on the bedrock of society is going to help him?

BTW, very few people who answer in the affirmative over gay marriage actually favor it. It's more like resignation or a tolerance of it.

Because the heteros would have a fit over losing their government granted privileges.

Of course it is going to help him.

The people who are fired up against gay marriage wouldn't have voted for him anyway. Not now. He already lost them with his anti-Catholic actions. But people who are fired up for gay marriage will be energized by his endorsement of it. It's a win for him.

People in your group, the elderly and not so bright, generally don't favor it but it's overwhelmingly favored by people 35 and younger. Obama will probably come out for it before the election, he's putting out feelers to see how much he's up on Romney before he does it.

Exactly. And sadly too many homosexual marriage proponents live in a fallacious delusion that this resignation and putting up with it equates to a societal acceptance of which it most certainly does not and is not.

I'm sorry to inform you that most of society now does accept that marriage should be between two people no matter what their sexual orientation.
The people who still mentally live in the 18th century must now get into the 21st century.............. marriage is NOT determined by whether you are gay or straight but by whether you commit to a serious relationship.... a lesson still to be learned from the huge amount of straight divorcees.
