I'm for allowing gays to marry, but I still don't understand how they are being treated like "second class citizens."
14th amendment. section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States;
Civil marriage in the US is a right, and a privilege.
Homosexuals are citizens, but are being denied a basic right.

Your first sentence contradicts itself. You are upset because everyone is not as excited and thrilled about same sex marriage as you are. If the same sex marriage extremists really believed that same sex marriage was becoming more widely accepted as they claim then there would be no fear of putting it to the voters. Everybody wants it, right? So why fear the vote since you believe that it will go your way? Marriage redefinitionists are terrified of the vote because they know that “widespread acceptance” is a delusional fairy tale fantasy. Same sex marriage is being foisted on a reluctant public by activist judges that overturn and subvert the will of the people who already voted against it attempting to further the same sex marriage agenda. If society really wanted same sex marriage this would not be such an uphill battle and we would have had it long before now.
These were the same arguments put up against racial equality in the USA.

ALL elections boil down to voter participation and getting your ppl to the polls. Marriage equality is no different. As in most elections, the elderly, conservative and religious are the ones that are most likely to vote; the groups that are most likely to vote marriage equality down. The rampant misinformation and fear tactics of the anti-marriage crowd also mischaracterize marriage equality and convince uneducated voters to vote their prejudices rather than vote for what is morally right.
It's challenging for the pro-marriage equality folks to win when the elections are based on fears, mob mentality, rather than rational thinking/facts. The courts are more likely to decide based on legal precedent, reason and facts. That's why the equality side has better results with them.
1) marriage is supposed to be between one man and one woman;
2) marriage is for procreation;
3) because god says it's bad;
4) because they are narrow-minded and judgmental bigots;
5) all of the above.

Well this isn't a Iran or Russia or China.... this is America where all are EQUAL and EVERYONE has the same rights..... go live in Iran if you don't think that everyone has the same rights to marriage etc.

Absolutely and unfortunately because many here live in a "bubble" with no experience of outside America........ brainwashing is easy here from the religous or right wing zelouts.... a pity and so sad.
The marriage redefinitionists claim that “everybody” is more accepting of same sex marriage and if that were indeed true there would be zero reason to fear the vote as everyone would vote their way. Deep down they know that society is not as receptive, tolerant, let alone accepting of the homosexual agenda as they would like to otherwise mislead.
