For social issues and social issues alone, what do you consider yourself to be?
For those who are unsure of what "social" issues are, they are such things as:
MAJOR SOCIAL ISSUES
* Abortion - I don't believe in placing a relative value on a human. It's only considered a person if the mother's intent is to keep the baby, therefore charges can be brought if the baby is harmed. If the intent was to kill the baby, the murder is just. The value wasn't in the person, it was in the mother's intentions.
* Same-sex marriage - None of my business. Don't care, get the government out of marriage.
MINOR SOCIAL ISSUES
* Divorce - Don't care, its your problem.
* Euthanasia - If a person is in their right mind and wants to be "put down," let them.
* Morality in media - If you don't like whats on TV, turn it off. Take your kids to the park or something. I happen to enjoy vulgar shows.
* Pornography / "adult" entertainment - Not my problem.
* School prayer - If a kid wants to pray, let them pray.
* Sex education (none vs. abstinence vs. comprehensive) - How about you just teach? The "abstinence" education obviously isn't working. Teach the skills necessary so our students can compete in the global marketplace.
* Soft drug legalization - I'm for hard drug legalization. Studies show that countries who legalize all drugs actually see a decrease in drug addiction.
Choose one. Note that I have intentionally not included a "centrist" option. You be the judge as to what category you put yourself in.
Most of my opinions are mostly a Constitutional/states rights position.

Quote:
Morality in media
"I am a conservative Republican, but I believe in democracy and the separation of church and state. The conservative movement is founded on the simple tenet that people have the right to live life as they please as long as they don't hurt anyone else in the process."
-Barry Goldwater, 1994
This is a little bit different. I don't think your quote aptly applies here, as the media is seen by people who otherwise can't make those decisions. Anything more apropos?

That is pretty appropriate, considering the US Constitution is about free speech and freedom of press, freedom extended to a person AND press (media).
The idea of morality, itself, may differ. A media's "morality" would entail being truthful, for example. Hence...
"as long as they don't hurt anyone else in the process"
