So which federal mandate requires you to buy a product from a private entity?

Hang on...
Many Euro countries are BROKE. Their systems stink, they have unfunded mandates that kill the taxpayers and the US has too long propped them up bailed them out and helped them along. I say let Europe COLLAPSE! If the 'euro' system is so freak’n fantastic, so stellar why does is s-u-c-k so bad? UK health service stinks, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland and others are TOTALLY BROKE they’re getting bail-outs from the Communist Chinese for crying out loud!!!
They've spent WAY too much money on systems and programs that are simply NOT sustainable. Thatcher said it best,
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money"
Face it, if their system(s) were so danged great, so obviously superior we would have copied them long LONG ago, but they are NOT better.
Best course of action perhaps, FULL US MILITARY PULL OUT of EU countries, dissolve NATO. Once they are on the hook for 100% of their own defense THEN we'll see how much of the taxpayer’s HARD-earned money they spend on pipe-dream "free-for-all" socialist systems.

That accident happened in Georgia while I was there on vacation. My home state is Florida. That is an example of the interstate commerce that occurs with healthcare services across state lines, making them subject to federal government intervention.

I will gladly pay my fair share of taxes so that we can have universal health care. You will also pay your share! We all live in and share this society, and sometimes for the betterment of the country we have to provide things that don't necessarily affect us. I am sure at some point my taxes have gone to pay for the construction of a public school on the Texas and Mexican border. I will never have the benefit of that, but I am glad it was done because it is important for us to educate younger Americans whether they live in Florida, Texas, or Alaska. The same standard should be held for healthcare.

And cancelling a phone bill wouldn't get anyone insurance. Hell, back before I had a pre-existing condition I would have paid $200 bucks a month for health insurance with blue cross blue shield. And I was a very healthy late teen when I checked then. My phone bill is not even half of $200. My roommate pays for the cable in our house. He is the only one who watches it.

Hah. Why not instead of babbling nonsense you debunk them for us? Those statistics are real and are a reflection of the dozens of millions of Americans who currently suffer under our current healthcare system.

And your example of changing a bank contract is bogus. I swear to god you conservatives and the absurd metaphors you use. In your example someone arbitrarily changed the contract, like a dictator. Our constitution can be amended and can be interpreted in various was only upon the approval of the voters. We vote our politicians in to make these decisions for us.
Perhaps, but why would I be required to buy a policy that covers services I will never use. Maternity services for example? Why compel me to buy insurance before I engage in the process. For example, why not force a person to buy car insurance prior to getting a car?

LOL, maybe Europe shouldn't be so baffled

"The German Chancellor's ruling party is seeking extra sources of revenue to pay for soaring pensions and bills for social care costs as Germany's ''baby boomer'' generation ages amid a decline in the birth rate."

The Europeans or other nations that provide some form of universal health care are in the position they're in for many reasons, one of which was the cascade effect of Americans believing you should be able to own a home regardless if you could afford it or not! That crappy paper found it's way into many portfolios worldwide.

To copy any other system but yours would be an admission of inferiority so of course it will never happen and pulling out of NATO will never happen either; your military complex would neve allow your government to do that, they own your ass even more than the Chinese do.

Stop fantasizing and face reality; you're broke too and going for the gold medal of 'broke' but your lobbyists will not allow anything to change cause they're getting rich while you're going into the crapper.

They are also in the predicament they're in as distinctive from yourselves because they can't print money like you people can to service your debt. That may change.

China bailing out Europe? How much of your ass does China own? They are watching you print money which serves to devalue your currency and the debt they're holding over you with a jaundiced eye and they're not happy about that either.

Or maybe not.

http://www.politifact.com/virginia/a...ce-die-sooner/

"Kronick, a senior health care policy adviser in President Bill Clinton’s administration, found that after adjusting for demographic and health factors - such as whether uninsured respondents were smokers and how they rated their own health - the uninsured were at no greater risk of dying earlier than people who had employer-sponsored group insurance.

Kronick pointed out in his paper that even he considers findings "counterintuitive." He suggested that uninsured people are being caught in the social safety net of public hospitals and community clinics before they they die prematurely.

PolitiFact, in an August, 2009 story, spoke to a range of experts from the left-leaning Brookings Institute to the conservative Heritage Foundation, who said they found Kronick’s results credible."

I really don't think most Europeans care less if America has Universal Healthcare or not. I am certainly not, it's up to Americans as to what kind of health care system they wish to have, just as it's up to Europeans to decide what kind of healthcare system they wish to have in their countries.

In terms of US Forces in Europe, there are not massive US Forces in Europe any more. There were recent plans to reduce the American Army in Europe to around 32,000 and no doubt similar cuts will be implimented in terms of the few US Airforce bases in Europe.

To put things in to perspective the 27 members of the EU have active Military Personnel of nealy 1.7 million, with over 2.6 million Military Reserves, whilst the EU accounts for nearly 25% of all global military expenditure. So we can more than defend ourselves.

The federal government shouldn't be allowed to mandate that anyone by anything.

Its a significant increase in their power.

Single payer, fine, thats constitutional, but an individual mandate, IMO, is not.

America has it's own Socialist type Keynesian Economic System based on it's massive prison industrial complex which is responcible for over 25% of the worlds prison population despite the US accounting for less than 5% of the worlds population, and also based on the massive US Military Industrial Complex which accounts for over half of all global military spending. The US also has one of the most expensive healthcare systems, with private companies making vast profits from the US Healthcare system.
