That has nothing to do with the syg law at all! Actually murder has gone up because of it
Not murder, justifiable homicide has gone up, and rightfully so. I am begining to believe that the reason most blacks here don't support SYG because most of the crooks being shot are black
I think stand your ground laws are related because these laws are getting passed and supported by a public that believes (INCORRECTLY) that violent crime is rampant, that everyone needs a gun to protect themselves, and they don't want to have any duty to retreat when that violent criminal shows up in their lives, as the criminal surely will at some point. Even though statistics show conclusively that violent crimes in the U.S. have been steadily DECREASING during the past 20 years, the general public does not believe that's true. They think we are living in the TV and movie worlds of continuous action and violence around every corner and that's why we need to be able to carry guns ANYWHERE and to have SYG laws.

Is there prima facia of intent? Would you want to be sitting in jail for self defense? If you go to the market this afternoon a derelict asks you for change and when you pull out your wallet he grabs it and starts to run. You peruse for a block and you here sirens coming down the street. Only a block away and you know you'll receive help in catching the thief. About the time you catch up to him he turns on you and runs toward you knocking you to the ground. You shoot him dead. Do you think you should sit in jail and await trial?

Judging from his response to your post, Dale doesn't seem to understand that in order for a homicide to be "justifiable" there usually has to be some kind of crime/threat against the defendant. If you shoot someone who just broke into your home and it's called a justifiable homicide, then the victim was still committing a crime.
And judging from all your ridiculous responses, you don't get that shooting someone when they're bashing your head into a pulp IS justified.

Why is it so hard for "you people" to understand that this case is more complex than you would like it to be? Have you called up Zimmerman's attorney yet to give him the benefit of your legal analysis? He seems to be in the dark, according to you, even though he went to law school, passed the Florida Bar exam, and has been a successful practicing attorney for many years. Certainly he would be so delighted to hear that you have the whole matter legally resolved.
