Fannie Mae, with CEO Franklin Raines, did much of the damage.

Why do you believe wealthy successful people owe you anything?

Because Obama says so. Every single day.

The "wealthy and successful" (whatever that means) do not owe me anything.
Also, I do not owe them anything, not my mind, nor my health, nor the health of the environment, nor the health of the wildlife.
If they believe it is their right to pollute the air and water for their profits, and if they believe I should shut up or look the other way, they can go eff themselves. For pollution "wealthy and successful" should be investigated by independents.
If they think I (or any other citizen) should obediently go to war for their profits, they can go eff themselves.
I don't believe in the bs from the "wealthy and successful" that they call 'news'.
I do not owe the "wealthy and successful" any of my loyalty, obedience, or personal sacrifice, for that we have conservatives.

"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."-Abraham Lincoln.

But I guess he was just a "socialist" too, huh?

Anyway, the rich don't owe me anything personally. But, the consumer put them in that place of privilege and the consumer is overwhelmingly middle and working class. Hence, they do owe the consumer something and that something should be paid for by progressive taxation.
Does this mean the US needs higher taxes? Not really. As long as we close tax loopholes, create a tax on money moved to tax havens overseas and, most of all, stop wasting money on the war on drugs and endless wars overseas, we could get enough revenue to balance the budget and finance things like healthcare and education for the middle and working class who put the wealthy up there in the first place.

: smack::s mack:

Why do you post these idiotic little screeds that add nothing to the conversation. You're just flaming, no substance behind your argument, just provocation. In your diseased little mind I imagine Paris Hilton works way harder than a coal miner but try to go up for air in the real world sometime.

I absolutely agree with the title of this thread. I am lower middle class but I do not feel the wealthy owe me anything. I know most of them worked hard for their success. The problem with America is that most people from lower income are filled with jealously for what they have. They will make all kinds of false and hateful statements about the rich and how they were born into wealth or made the money off poor folks or stealing from the middle class. It's ridiculous. If you want to be rich like them, then start saving and investing in things like real estate or stocks. Open a business or use your God-given talents like singing or acting to make money and propel yourself forward. The problem with poor people is their poor mentalities. Stemmed from Democratic ideology that they were born into poverty thus can never come up. Which is a lie because so many people from the ghetto are now millionaires. It all starts with a drive, ambition, and positive thinking. If you are a negative thinker and poor, then you will stay that way. FYI, most celebrities are rich because of these types of people. The same ones who complain about not having money and celebrities being ultra rich, are the same one buying their albums, tuning in to their tv shows, and purchasing their merchandise. Thus, making them richer and you poorer. So you really have no one to blame but yourself.
