Not because I think the neighbors acted properly at all, but I do know of vacant homes in rural areas near where I live, where people have set up meth labs, and have changed locks. While meth labs have become small and mobile enough that there have been incidents of people setting up shop in gas station bathrooms, the privacy of a vacant rural house can be quite attractive to people wanting to set up such an operation.
Hmm...maybe that's what they were protecting. Maybe they have a meth lab somewhere in the neighborhood and thought this couple was invading their territory.
strange, when I read the story, I did not see anything about the race of the people with the firearms. for all we know, they could have been from mars and had lasers guns as weapons.

All I see here are two guys looking for an excuse to pull out their...guns...and feel manly. It's absurd and they need to be smacked down hard. The "hero fantasy" is a real thing among the gun loving. I'm not anti gun, but I don't love them or fantasize about this kind of thing though.
And what made it worse, because they didn't have proof on them, the cops arrests them. Thank goodness, these gun nuts didn't have itchy trigger fingers or it would have been very bad.
All I had to do was see it was in Georgia and it was totally clear and understandable why it happened. Suprised they didn't have white robes on!

You know, the majority of us living in the South don't have white robes.
While you may despise the racism that may have sparked the suspicions of these neighbors, you are engaging in prejudice as well when making sweeping generalizations about Georgia and the South.

Some people have developed cognitive tools that allow them to engage in the very thing they claim to decry.
