"France says the Security Council should consider the use of force in Syria if a UN-backed peace plan fails to stop violence in the country.
"We cannot allow the [Damascus] regime to defy us," French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said.
Violence has continued despite a plan by international envoy Kofi Annan calling on Damascus to withdraw troops and heavy weapons from cities."

Sounds similar. France's Sarkozy was the first to suggest military in Libya although US forces played a bigger role in that one. By France being the first to suggest military might the world would not gasp, oh, oh, there goes America again, bombing somebody.
Not long thereafter US authorities had Strauss-Kahn on the hook, the man who was very popular and expected to easily oust Sarkozy in the the French elections. The case against Strauss-Kahn quickly fell apart, but his reputation was damaged enough to prevent him from campaigning against Sarkozy. Some people even dared to call the Strauss-Kahn affair a frame up.
Maybe one favor deserves another?
Absolutely agreed. There is no reason to waste more American lives or money on the ME. But...France talking tough? That's really sorta funny.
Not really the French Navy Carrier battle-group flew about 70% of the Airstikes during U.N. imposed no fly zone with NATO's Operation Unified Protector in Lybia..They were also the first to have their fighters up in the air over Libya.
Let Russia deal with it as they are the ones that have vital strategic interests in that country and already have a massive naval base located there...So Putin can step up and get things done we sent in our U.N. peeacekeepers like the U.N. asked..So we did our part iof the U.N. madate

I hate the ME with a passion, and I don't want any more wars there, but from I have seen enough of this tool who attacks his people as they try to flee to safey, that I say we should bomb the presidential palace and kill that bastard. One drone. One man. A big ass crater. He has proven he is a monster like dad. Kill that guy and give the Syrians a chance. Even better if France does it, or Turkey, but someone needs to give him the Quadaffy treatment.
