never ever fire a warning shot. you are responsible for each and every shot that leaves your firearm. in the case of someone attacking me or my family, the 1st shot will be going into the crooks chest, followed by another one and 1 into the head. stop the threat. never fire a warning shot.
I would say if one is adamant about firing a warning shot, keep a blank in the first chamber, but never fire a warning shot with a loaded cartridge.
i didn't know that. i thought that everything should be attempted before firing directly at someone. nevertheless, mandatory sentencing is idiotic. the judge in both linked cases hand their hands tied by the legislation. it is a great tragedy that in my extimation, most of the people in prison today, shouldn't be there!
You never fire warning shots.
1. You can never be sure exactly where the bullet will end up.
2. As you can see here a jury can destroy you because if you were able to fire a warning shot it can be established that you didn't need to fire the gun at all.

Mandatory sentencing by State legislatures is the direct result of judges turning our legal system into a revolving door. For example, prior to the 10-20-Life mandatory sentencing legislation in Florida in 1999, someone found guilty of murder could get as little as 7 years in prison before being paroled.
Florida voters got tired of judges giving career criminals slaps on the wrist, and they elected legislators that imposed mandatory minimum sentences.
This kind of mandatory sentencing is precisely what Florida voters wanted.

Yep. One of the first things one learns in shooting class is don't aim if you don't intend to kill. Or to break it up, don't aim if you don't intend to fire. Don't fire if you don't intend to kill.
Don't just aimlessly wave guns around and shoot into the air.
And carry a large enough caliber to kill instead of just **** someone off.
Sounds more like sanity and reason are dead in the Florida criminal code than anything to do with the 2nd Amendment.
you're missing the point. i spend half my time in london, uk. a few years ago i listened to an interview with the previous mayor, a fascist commie imo, ken livingston. he was asked why under his mayorship, traffic had deteriorated to a point where motorists were virtually gridlocked. his answer was straightforward and unbelievably, honest! he said that whilst getting traffic moving would be pretty simple and cheap, he and the people who voted for him, wanted to discourage the use of cars. as such, their focus was to make driving unbearable.
likewise in this scenario, lawmakers want to make the use of cars, the running of small business, the ownership of guns and particularly self defense, as unbearable/difficult as possible. imo, whilst not a direct infringement of the 2nd amendment, it is one of those subtle suggestions that if one doesn't want to fall foul of the law, one best not own a firearm at all.
I'll recommend that you do not even show a gun unless you intend to use it. NEVER threaten with a firearm. If the assailant stops the assault then hold it for the police. This is very unlikely as it will have very little time to stop before it is shot.
I use the term it because an assailant is a pest to be killed and not a human being to be cherished

Please continue to educate us Greg. What should one do if they are attempting to hold an assailant at gun point and the assailant turns around and runs away?
