The tipping point for most people will be if/when the dollar collapses and we have hyperinflation. At that time there will be neither right nor left as we will all be in the same boat and facing the same problems.
and it's coming... it may not be tomorrow or next week, but it's coming.
And I will offer no apologies for my belief that bringing that about would require the identification and removal of the most parasitically-inclined from the voting rolls.
Everyone's tipping point is different... mine is simple... the golden rule... do unto others as you do unto yourself... if you aren't willing to treat everyone EXACTLY the same, then you are not my choice for president... Obama has been one of the most divisive president in history... the democrats are roaming around and saying this "group" and that "group" needs to do this for this and that "group"... we are all one group, if you can't do it for everyone with an equal treatment for everyone, then you failed as a president...
The choice is a no-brainer for me. Just look at Obama's latest 'life of Julia' ad. This is a guy who believes lock, stock, & barrel in the 'tooth fairy economics,' that is, gov't is there to give you health care, education, house, job, chevy volt, etc. He believes in it even after the problems it has brought. If you read 'Reckless Endangerment' it's clear that the housing bubble came about from the notion that Washington DC could turn everyone into a homeowner.
We're not that far removed from the relative good times of the 80s & 90s. All we need is someone to dial back the worst excesses of fed. spending. We're not over the cliff yet. All we need to do is turn back from the cliff and we can be ok. Many of the problems, such as education, are better solved at the state level, or if you live in California, by moving to another state.
At what point do people stop playing horse race with the political parties and actually vote someone who's qualified to be president, and will make a good president.
My dad argues I should vote for Mittens because "he's at least better than Barack." That's like me coming home from school bragging about getting a 46 on an exam because it's at least better than a 38.
Is there a tipping point? Is it hyper-inflation? Our dollar being dropped as the reserve currency? Interest rates skyrocketing due to flooding the capital markets with our federal debt?
What/when is the tipping point?
So you think that Ron Paul (since you are such an ardent Paul supporter) is qualified to be president, but Mitt Romney is not? That's pretty hilarious.
Anyway - I admire and respect Ron Paul a lot. I think he has some excellent ideas but I also think many of his ideas go too far. The majority of Americans will not accept Iran having nuclear weapons, nor are a majority of Americans OK with things like allowing private groups to coin their own money.
Obviously Paul is not going to be the GOP nominee. If you lived in Wyoming or Texas or Rhode Island or New York, I would encourage you - since you feel so strongly about being unwilling to vote for Romney - stay home or vote for a third party candidate as a protest vote. But you live in Virginia - a critical battleground state, a state that could be the deciding state if the election is extremely close and a state where every single vote counts. Please - realize that either Obama will be re-elected or Romney will be elected. Those are the only two choices.
