Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett has reportedly received a response from the state of Hawaii regarding his request for verification that President Obama was born in the United States.
According to KTVK in Phoenix, the Hawaii attorney general's office told Bennett that he must take a number of steps, including proving that the confirmation is necessary to update his office's records, in order to receive the verification.
here are the email exchanges between bennett and HI. in her first response on march 17, 2012 jill nagamine, HI deputy district attorney, links to an official statement on the subject from the hawaiian director of health which includes the LFBC and birth index data.
This has nothing to do with birther nonsense, it's a legitimate request by a Secretary of State, for a legitimate purpose.
here is the hawaiian law concerning the release of vital records to government agencies:
"(2) A governmental agency or organization who for a legitimate government purpose maintains and needs to update official lists of persons in the ordinary course of the agency’s or organization’s activities;"
this is what nagamine asked of bennett to verify this requirement had been met:
"(1) What list are you updating?
(2) Is it your normal procedure to update all entries on your list by requiring birth data verification?
(3) Are you requiring birth data verification of all entries on your list, rather than just targeting one name on your list? (please provide evidence that you are doing so)"
bennett has not answered any of these questions and has admitted that he has not asked the same of romney ( which, imo, is a conflict of interest seeing how bennett is the co-chair of romney's campaign in AZ ).
What's next is, Hawaii failed to comply with a legitimate request, Obama is no longer on the Arizona Ballot.
LOL... certainly you cannot be that naive? Bennett can and will do no such thing. He decided to pander to the nutjobs, and so he and he alone will have to figure out how to climb out of the hole he dug himself with the least amount of political damage to himself.
But there is nothing he can do to keep the President off the ballot.

Apparently, no it's not. Else Hawaii would not have told him to **** off and die.

I belive that Don9 already covered that above. To paraphrase: Because we live in a society where we all must play by the rules or the laws and Bennett or any Secretary of State is not above the law.
