.....but if I were one of the Sheriff's constituents, he'd have some 'splainin' to do!
especially because, without a court order, it's against hawaiian law to turn anything over to the deputy or zullo with the exception of the birth index data. did arpaio not look up hawaiian law before he sent them?

Understanding the law is not one of Arpaios talents, hence the reason the JD is going after him.
Just when you thought it was safe for sane people to go outside...
Sheriff Joe, dispatches Posse member Michael Zullo and member of his political extortion unit Brian Mackiewcz to Hawaii, were the two badge waving birthers are demanding to see the official records.
Better make sure that they only see it under lock and key and are strip searched after looking at it. (if they get that far.) At the rate this is going I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to steal the dang thing and then claim that it didn't exist!
"The cold-case posse has spent about $40,000 on the investigation so far, according to the Sheriff's Office."
40k on what!? lunch? to date all the "evidence" the CCP has put forward is to repeat past WND articles ( with the exception of the pica stamp claim ). that shouldn't cost more than a wasted afternoon and a box of hot-pockets.

The question is, where did that money come from?
I'm rather sure it didn't come from taxpayer money, but if it did...
up until now arpaio has been very adamant that all the money being spent on the CCP investigation has come from private donations ( and WND actively solicited for donations to the CCP ). now that an actual deputy is on it that comes out of the tax-payers pocket:
"The Sheriff's Office also had to cover the costs of airfare and hotel rooms for the deputy, Arpaio said, but he expects the posse to reimburse the agency for those costs."
i'm not exactly sure how a private entity can legally pay for a criminal investigation. it seems like a "pay for justice" scenario. don't know. if anyone with knowledge of the law in this kind of circumstance would like to chime in i'd be greatly appreciative.
