Another thread composed of utter nonsense. The nurse followed the rules except for calling 911. At least the kid survived. Consider if the nurse provided the inhaler she might have been fired anyway. As the RWNJ’s insist rules are rules.

As far as school aiding an underage child in obtaining an abortion is concerned I believe if the girl was old enough to get pregnant she is old enough to decide to get unpregnant. That is an example of the primacy of the individual right to chose what they are doing with their own body.

I think the bigger issue here is that the school did not summon emergency services. I cannot for the life of me understand why nobody called 911.

Nurse refuses student inhaler during asthma attack | News - Home
One person does not, cannot and should not represent an entire government.

This is just a rare case, it is not something that happens all the time either.

Can you imagine though! if this case took a turn for the worse. Which could have. I know children who have very bad asthma, and have to have their inhaler, some came pretty close to dying by almost stop their breathing. This is serious. And if this student would have died, this would be a much different story now.
No questions and without any doubt your an adult, 911 should have and willingly been called.

Surely these acquaintances of yours have their "papers" on file at school? We really don't know everything about this incident. There may be a lot more to the story. Personally, I would be happy to see schools have "standing orders" for occasions like that; don't know how that would work legally.

As a non asthmatic can someone get hurt by using an inhaler? As a lifelong asthmatic within the school district, and someone who is nearly an adult, this student shouldn't have been in a position of needing anyone (especially an idiot) to give him permission anyway.

This was in Florida and common sense does not exist in Florida. The Bermuda Triangle swallowed it up.

Agreed.
I do wonder why, if there was no paperwork on file, the nurse even had the inhaler to begin with. Generally, there is a hand-off that is not done unless the paperwork is in order.

You realize that the institution of school nurses has nothing to do with the Affordable Care Act, right?

The OP saw an opportunity to spin this into school/government run/Communist/Liberal/Socialist healthcare...
