Well Elder is one of those conservative black men who never fails to make a ton of sense to me but then you can keep that liberal brain protected from words by people like that as long as you can keep yourself from seeing what the man was saying. Ain't fun?
I have read that at least five times. I have no idea what you were actually trying to say.
Is that why he said "Godamn America"? Why preach about white supremacy if not to keep racism alive? Most white Americans are not supremists so who gives a damn about a minority of them that are unless to stir the pot.
His "Confusing God and Government" sermon was about all human governments, not just white ones and not just the U.S. government. Rev. Wright's point was that governments can not do some of the actions that they have engaged in, including the U.S government and turn around ask for God's blessing over their activities. Particularly activities that God would clearly condemn. His larger point being you should look to the government (any government) for things that only God can provide.
Because white supremacy has been and in some cases still is entwined with how society operates not only in this country, but in other countries around the world. Just because you aren't aware of it doesn't mean it isn't occurring. You can't overcome something unless you understand how it operates.
Of course it does. If everyone is going to dig into Romney and pick apart his past then Obama's should be open game as well. Just a shame most of the media has no interest whatsoever in digging into Obama's past. You will not see any negative, hit-pieces on Obama from CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, etc.
These people are just playing follow the leader with their leader from the White House. The other day he made that threat toward the Chief Justice Roberts and the rest of the Supreme Court so these people think that making threats is the way you play the game.

He damned our entire country. No sense in back peddling now. I repeat, most white Americans aren't supremists so why make an issue out of those who are unless to keep racism alive? Apparently, you aren't aware of THAT. Maybe in today's world Wright needs to acknowledge the racism that exists among some minorities.
Will, be honest.. you keep saying the same thing over and over.. you know you are talking about the denomination , not Wrights 98% black church.
Rich whites bother Reverend Wright. Same as Obama..
I keep saying because it is true. Yes, I know its the denomination that is overwhelmingly white because that is what I wrote. Rev. Wright could have left the denomination, he could have encouraged the church to leave the denomination. Trinity UCC is voluntarily a member of the denomination and the denomination has no ties on it. In fact, the denomination has offered very little help to Trinity over the years because they didn't believe that Trinity could achieve most of the things that Trinity has done. But they stayed within the overwhelmingly white denomination and provided it with hundreds of thousands of dollars of financial support. Hardly the actions of a group of people who hate white people.
Obama is of mixed race. He is every bit as much white as he is black. I never heard that he suffered any hardship from that or ever lived in any black ghettos. He pretty much lived a privileged life himself all the way up to gaining the presidency.
Rev. Wright is also of mixed race. Both Rev. Wright and Obama would be targets of those who have issues with people of African descent.
In Chicago there were probably lots of everyday interactions that were so common that no one would even think to mention it.

Yes ,The poor congregation , the victims of Rev. Wright with the poison he spewed to keep them coming.. and taking their money but worse of all the poison he filled his congregation with.. He will have to answer for it all.
