I don't understand why some straight people don't get it. Im gay and I've never been to a gay pride parade. Butt understand why they are thrown. They ate sort of a keep your spirits up type thing for gay people. Its very hard to be born gay. Some straight people think the point of these parades is to compete with heterosexualsakin to a sporting event as though we are saying we are better than you. That's not the point of them. Are straight people shamed on an ongoing basis for simply being the person that they were born as? I think not therefore they are not needed..

You forgot to add "I don't like parades." Though at least gay pride parades are entertaining and don't involve every marching band playing "Louie, Louie" over and over.

Only if it wasn't a reactionary anti-gay event. Which it almost certainly would be -- even though gay pride parades are not "anti-straight."

Shouldn't such a parade actually be called a "Repressed, Closeted Homosexual Parade?"

I think we operate on the same wavelength. If I have to hear another marching band toot out "Louie, Louie," I'm taking hostages. I hate parades and I hate marching bands and I especially hate parades with marching bands playing that song.

The places that hold these parades are already gay friendly and accepting, so it's not about rebellion or making a point. They aren't necessary, it just seems like it's for fun.

I attended Gay Pride Chicago also Black Gay Pride. Both where a hot mess.

I consider myself to have a healthy self esteem so I don't need parades to celebrate who I sleep with. That is personal. The stuff that gays where wearing was horrible and the culture of the parade played into the stereotypes that some have of us being over sexed drunk hoes. That isn't what most of us are about. otoh, we have to respect the freedom that we have to be able to have a gay pride for those who want to celebrate it. If straights find a need to have one that is fine with me. I just hope they have a bit more class than the gay ones. Almost a million half naked gay people people screaming and hollering at 90% naked marchers. Some actually had the audacity to bring their children to such an event. That was a disgrace. Their actions where nothing to be proud of.

Vote and discuss.
No. I would stand on the street corner with a sign condemning their "lifestyle" choice, because that's what Jesus would want me to do.
