How about maaaybe BECAUSE HE CALLED HIMSELF THAT! Just because he referred to himself as one does not mean everyone else feels comfortable about being called one

Now if you think all policemen are on the up and up and never experienced any form of racism in your life, yeah maybe you would think that everything was just fine.

Because of the overt racism in this country and the way the police dept handled the situation in the first place raised alot of eyebrows in the first place. Just remember this the emphasis was more on the the police dept than on zimmerman until he tried to be slick with the money and lies.
Not that the facts will interfere with your stories, but the cops met with the father on 2/28 to explain why there was no arrest. It was at that meeting when the father said the voice yelling help wasn't tm.

'police chooses not to go after the person who shot him'

Haven't you paid any attention to the Daniel Adkins story in Arizona? Mentally handicapped man gunned down by a black man who claimed he had a pipe (he didn't) and he never even made contact with the shooter who was safely in his car at the time. Still no charges brought. Wonder why?

P.S. Your claim that this would have been a big mess if the shooter had been black is utter BS. The racist angle has been pushed early and often by some of the local racists. Oh, and the spliced tapes and attempts to pin him in as a racist at every possible turn. The truth is most likely that he is just an idiot with a gun...but the racism angle served it's purpose.
Why do you think that is? Your own opinion.

BTW...it's not even a news story in Arizona anymore. Hell, it barely ever was.

All this talk and debate about punishing Zimmerman for what almost everyone acknowledges he did...such a waste of time! If you want to punish the man, just let him walk out of the courtroom. How long do you think he'd last?

On this particular instance, a few days after she had given birth to her youngest daughter, the abusive husband in a jealous rage over a text message where she sent pictures to family, an ex-husband, and her children, again attacked her, strangled her and threw her against the wall in the presence of his two young sons; one who is 10 and one who is 13.
And Mrs. Alexander was able to get away; however, she was trapped in her garage. She could not get out of the house; she retrieved a gun for protection. The abusive husband said that he was going to kill her. He charged at her again from very close range, and she fired one shot in an upward direction, and because of that she was charged with three counts of aggravated assault here in Jacksonville, Florida.
And that charge carried with it an enhancement that could have someone serve 20 years mandatory in prison. And that’s what she was charged with by the State Attorney’s Office and eventually convicted of. She tried to argue that she was “standing her ground,” which is a law that protects people against attackers inside their homes and outside their home, but the judge did not grant her motion. And therefore she is now serving 20 years. The case is under appeal.

Because the prosecutor in AZ didn't want to take on the gun lobby over SYG when the victim was relatively unsympathetic to public opinion.

Had the victim been a pregnant mother of two gunned down in front of her kids because the guy almost ran over them....then yeah, he'd have been charged. Try to get a jury to send a young man away for life with a baby on the way for shooting a mentally retarded man.....sigh....sad but true it's a tougher road.

By casting the trayvon\zimmerman encounter as racial, and by showing Zimmerman in a mugshot like picture next to a picture of a trayvon at age 13 or so....it garnerned additional public pressure.

FYI - Both shooters should have been arrested on the spot IMO. It's a sad reality how political pressures can mean the difference between jail and freedom for individuals.

If zimmerman had been a black former marine and had trayvon been a few years older....exact same encounter....I'm sad to say that I don't know that justice would have been served. (Just like in the adkins case)

Angela Corey was responsible for that one.
