Specifically, the "roll you own" cigarette stores. Yep, nothing like shuttering businesses and taxing those pinching pennies to collect higher tobacco taxes so he can spend more. How is that hypocrisy working for President "Choom"?

Roll-your-own cigarette stores going up in smoke - Chicago Sun-Times

Quote:
Valenti calls it a “killing” of small businesses and said closing his stores means his 21 employees lose their jobs.

He maintains that the new regulations make it incredibly difficult to continue operating the RYO machines, particularly the requirement to obtain a manufacturer’s license.

Now, I'm not a smoker but I have to wonder how it is a good idea to force businessses to close in this economy.

Before y'all say........it was passed by Congress; just remember Obama's promise not to raise taxes on those earning under $250,000.00. Understand if he had wanted to make an attempt to keep his promise he could have vetoed this entire bill.

Basically the article shows that Congress and Obama sided against the small business person in favor of Big Tobacco. However, somehow the Obamabots who scream about evil corporations don't show up when the thread doesn't favor Obama's contrived image of being for the "little person".

So, basically you're supporting smokers evading taxation??? We should be discouraging smoking, there is a reason tobacco taxes are called sin tax.

Hey - I have an idea. Why don't we just let adults make their own decisions as long as they're not harming others and not punish them with taxes that are in reality little different from fines?

Default Evasion means breaking the law

There was no tax evasion. It was perfectly legal until Obama put pen to paper.

Should we tax people with more melanine in their skin for evading the sales taxes on sunscreen?

Get a clue and read the article. This is about the POTUS who promised not to raise taxes on the middle class.....raising taxes on the middle class and siding with Big Tobacco (read corporations) against the small business owner.

I'm not a smoker, it doesn't affect me. However, the hypocrisy of Obamabots never ends as evident by the quoted poster above.

So you also should agree that smokers should be required to sign a release form that states that they turn down medical care for any smoking related illness, or any illness that is exacerbated by smoking. That way, their humongous medical bills are not shared amongst the general population.

Also, they should no longer be allowed to smoke anywhere but their own property.

As long as they pay for it themselves, there should be no problem (and, yes, I'm aware many smokers currently have huge medical bills they don't pay for themselves; I'm talking about how it should be).

Or anywhere where people know smoking will be allowed and non-smokers can choose not to go knowing the risks of secondhand smoke.

Or anywhere outside.

I always knew that Democrats are all about less liberty and more central government oppression. In your world every adult would have to sign a waiver to do anything because it ALL has an impact on our health. Winning!

He wouldn't have this legislation if it weren't for a Republican dominated House. I don't recall them telling folks they were going to raise taxes either.
