Romney to Olympians: 'You didn't get here solely on your own' - First Read

"You Olympians, however, know you didn't get here solely on your own power,” said Romney, who on Friday will attend the Opening Ceremonies of this year’s Summer Olympics. “For most of you, loving parents, sisters or brothers, encouraged your hopes, coaches guided, communities built venues in order to organize competitions. All Olympians stand on the shoulders of those who lifted them. We’ve already cheered the Olympians, let’s also cheer the parents, coaches, and communities. All right! [pumps fist].”
LOL!!

This ^^^ 100%!!!!!

And he stupid, pathetic lefties know their is no way to compare Romneys comments to Obamas. But I like that someone is trying. It WILL backfire in their faces, just like the Bain and other attacks. Also makes them look even more idiotic and desperate than they already are.

The difference is this, those athletes are almost all children.. usually under 18, only a few are over 18 or even over 21. They didn't pay for the venues built, they didn't pay for generally even their own schooling. So they do OWE their success to all those who paid for those things instead of the athletes themselves. They are NOT self made.. yes, they work their asses off, but their success is directly financed by other people, from sponsors (usually businesses), their parents, communities and schools. So they do owe their success and the ability to go AFTER their dreams to all of those people.

Businesses/entrepenuers PAY FOR EVERYTHING!! We aren't given the roads, we've paid for them. We aren't given our education, we've paid for it. No one is sponsoring our entire livelihoods, we've built our businesses from the ground up and even when we've borrowed money, we have to make a successful business to pay it back!

Do you see the difference now? Or are you still so partisan blind that you still can't understand the difference between a child who is given everything to focus on playing a sport and a business person who has to GIVE everything to make a business successful?

It's either that, or the GOP base is made up of the most gullible people on earth.
Nope, it is Party Uber Allis!

The base hated Romney during the debates, but will hold their noses and vote for him over any godless Demoncrap. And when he looses they will say it's because he "isn't a true conservative." And they will rinse and repeat in future election cycles until either the Republican Party has an about face, or they No True Scottman themselves into obscurity.

Who paid for the building of the Utah Olympic Park, Soldier Hollow and the Utah Olympic Oval? Those were tax-payer funded venues which those athletes used free of charge.

By the way, in case you're unclear about it, tax payer funded means....government.

It's the same speech. Obama said somewhere along the way there was a teacher who helped you, and Romney said the same thing. Both are stating the obvious, but Romney needs to do his homework before he goes all-in with his attacks, because it seems that time after time he ends up looking like the hypocrite of the decade.

Nonsense. Vast majority of them are over 21, especially at the winter games which he promoted.

Exactly my point, the child/olympian did NOT pay for it... we the tax payer did.

Thank you for helping my point!

Tax-payer money which was spent to build up a mormon city. And they re-built the hignways too while they were at it.
