They work hard, have two parent families, have discipline, and promote education.
It is pretty easy to see. Lethargy, poor education, drugs, single parent families, and a bad culture will result in poverty, in contrast. Some facts are hard to face.
I would lay some blame on the government for convincing an entire class of people that they are victims of society and then providing government social programs for them.
The government tells them they are victims and then supplies the crutches and bandaids which only perpetuate the victim status.

But wouldn't you agree that it's the fault of those people who choose to accept being labeled as victims and accept the handouts. I find it hilarious that certain black people talk about how they are still victims and this and that, well it didn't stop W.E.B. DuBois or Frederick Douglas from getting an education and improving their lives during the pre-Civil Rights era so if they can do it, why can't you?

The people accept what is provided to them and will take advantage of special treatment. It's just human nature.
Take away all that and they will have to stand on their own two feet. Then the choice is truly theirs.
Take away the special treatment. It's been 40+ years since MLK fought for equality.

That's why you see a big difference between groups like the Hmong and Japanese or Indian immigrants. The Hmong and many Cambodians started out on government handouts and are not nearly as successful as the groups that come and have to make it on their own.

Amen. Little did we forsee the 1965 Moynihan report would become America overall (not just the minority group he was studying) 47 years later.
While I don't think that it is "common" in terms of the percentages compared to other groups, let's not pretend that it doesn't happen. Two of my childhood friends (one Filipina and one Malaysian) had fathers who abandoned their families and the mothers raised the kids alone.
Asians do not air their dirty laundry in public. So although there are many of the same issues that they have within their own communities, they do not put them on display for public consumption. It does not mean that its not happening.
