The latest big company to support marriage equality in Washington is Nordstrom, the national high-end retailer.
The President of Nordsrom sent the following memo to it's employees:

"It is our belief that our gay and lesbian employees are entitled to the same rights and protections marriage provides under the law as our other employees," the Nordstroms wrote. "We also believe supporting freedom to marry will help us create a more attractive and inclusive workplace for our current and prospective employees."

Good for them and their business.

As mariage is an arrangement between two free individuals the State has no right to limit it to only people of the opposite sex.

More news about the fight for marriage equality in Washington:

"Sixty-three former Roman Catholic priests in Washington state will announce on Thursday that they support Referendum 74, which would make Washington the nation’s seventh state to legalize marriage between same-sex couples."

'Episcopal Bishop Greg Rickel has endorsed Referendum 74 as a “conservative proposal” consistent with basic Christian teaching and the Christian life. Two prominent Methodist pastors in Seattle have endorsed marriage equality in TV ads."

"Washington voters appear poised to enact changes in social policy, legalizing same-sex marriage and possession of marijuana, that will be noticed across the country, according to a new SurveyUSA poll for KING/5 News."

"The poll found Referendum 74, which would make Washington the seventh state to enact marriage equality, leading by a 55-40 percent margin with just 6 percent undecided. No state in America has ever voted in favor of same-sex marriage. The issue is also on the ballot in Maryland and Maine."

I guess the normal Seattle fog has kept the sun from frying their brains like most of the RWA dominated states. I hope the Referendum 74 passes with a large margin.

If it doesn't, just think of how worthless your marriage would be!

So we should expect a large scale right-wing attack on Nordstroms now, right? Boycotts, countless angry Tweets, blogs and articles attacking Nordstroms, protests in front of the stores, berating employees, etc.

For the most part, it's been silent aside from a few far right-wing nutters because we really don't care that much. Compare this to the Chick-Fil-A controversy where people lost their minds based on the political and religious beliefs of it's owners (not even the official company's position as it is with Nordstroms).

Good for them. And I'm sure there will be plenty of people who, upon hearing of the company's support for same-sex couples, will boycott Nordstrom's.
