Ask them how Germany's economy would look with out it's weapons industry and the large source of exporting of guns and parts that is the US (and many other nations) thanks to the Military-Industrial Complex.
It's pretty much the shining example people throw around.
Also, American weapons makers import German parts...most assault rifles are built off the HK model.
It's worth noting that Germany's weapon production is confined to the private sector as well.
But yea...basically the most domestically "humane" nations pretty much helps millions of OTHER nations murder people with great efficiency.

I found out that Greece is one of Germany's big military equipment buyers.
Germany backed Greece getting huge IMF loans and Greece used those loans to pay off Germany.
So Germany isn't the picture perfect utopia everyone makes it out to be.

yes... exactly...
Intervention has pretty much conceived a Military-Industrial Complex in the EU. And everybody said it couldn't happen!
Guess the EU isn't as Democratic as people make it out to be.
France and Germany tried to screw the US in Iraq. All to get oil traded in Euros to make the euro the new worlds currency. Turkey was also in cahoots as they were trying to join the EU at the time. I will enjoy watching the EU implode.
The point is it's a STUPID example. Almost as stupid as this question...but not quite
How about Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, etc.? The first 3 are in the top 5 countries least likely to default on their debts. Sweden's main negative is they are getting a bit ridiculous on high taxes, but still doing well. Switzerland has a very favorable tax environment, is extremely wealthy, and has a strong social safety net.

No one has ever claimed Europe is perfect. There is no such thing as a perfect system. Why do you guys criticize everyone who happens to like elements of how other countries do things? You guys act like anyone who doesn't bend over backwards to defend the United States as the greatest nation in human history at every opportunity, that they deserve derision and accusations of being communists.
You don't get a strong soical net without funding whether its taxes or fee. netherlands for example has very high perosnal debt levels.I mnay xountries just as it was i USSR once the governamnt takes very high levels of GDP it promotes waht is called a black economy juts has Greece and Spain has.No matter what once you take a high level pof GDP out of the private sector its just a matter of time. Private sector always weights the risk verus reward when investing in GDP producing investments.

Norway and Sweden are culturally homogeneous....present the dynamic in America with that of Sweden (predominantly blonde haired, blue eyes, speak Swedish, Lutheran etc. etc.)
Not a very diverse country.
And the same applies to Norway and Austria.
Switzerland might be your lone example. But let's talk about Switzerland...
I have been to Zurich, it's an iceberg...and I'm not talking about the temperate climate, and the people of Switzerland are VERY odd. It's a very strange place, almost as if it's in a vacuum. One thing I find very odd about Switzerland is, they cannot enter the international market, at least competitively, because the cost of labor is through the roof....
But yet, they manage to be one of the richest nations on the globe.
There isn't that many people buying chocolate and watches....
They also have legislation right now on the table that is trying to argue the merits of incest.
Prostitution is legal @ 16. So, are you OK with your daughter leaving home at her freewill @ age 16? Especially to be a prostitute?
The country is also culturally divided between three major demographics...Italian, German and French. There is a language barrier between all of them....the place is not a melting pot.
Not to mention all the other veils of mystery surrounding the country as it is.
