The problem is with your niece. Perhaps you should find out why her parents raised her to give up so easily and also why she has this attitude. It is NOT typical.

Problem is... it isn't just one couple.

We have a nephew like that.

I think there are many many people like that.

All, no... but enough to question the values and ethics of younger people and the direction this country is going in the next 20 plus yrs....

I do realize every generation thinks the next one coming up sucks..... I still wonder if there is merit to it though....

She had a good job before Obama was elected. She worked for a title company and made good money. Now she won't take a job if it doesn't pay as much as her unemployment gets her. So she lives in the house her parents own and pays no rent. They kept it for extra income when they bought another house but she and her boyfriend live there rent free. He is a moocher big time and is along for the free ride.

Are all the 30 and under generation becoming like this? All pickers and giving up to work for a better life? I think our country is in big trouble folks.

DH has been "picking" on the side for years. He has two indoor flea market stands and does the outdoor market during the summer and fall on weekends. You've just got to get to know what's profitable and what's not and build a clientel, and that takes time. He has lists of things people ask him to find for them when he goes to barn sales, estate sales, etc. He enjoys it so much he says he'd do it even if he didn't make money at it. Some weeks he doesn't make a whole lot, some weeks are very profitable. It's a crap shoot for sure.

I know someone who pulls down an average of $3,500 a month being a picker and he's only doing it part time. You might not find it acceptable but give your niece a little credit. Her picking could actually turn into a thriving little business.

When young people are afraid Romney will gets jobs going and they aren't not enthused something is wrong. It's easy to fall into a dependencey lifestyle and that is what is scary.

We are all Julia's now????

Oh for pete's sake ....why don't you just start an "I Hate Obama" thread instead of this phony crap about some "Obama's lifestyle"?

Sounds like YOUR family likes to blame others instead of taking responsibility for their own actions.....

BTW, Obama's "LIFESTYLE" made him President.....I don't think any of your family is close....

The "story" seems to be quite conveniently contrived to present a particular slant on things, nothing more I think.

All I know is she calls her mother and cries about her sucky life. Working made her feel better and not so depressed.
