I believe so.
I think the OP mentioned that the flag pole is some 40 feet high, and that he does not have a rope/pulley system to raise/lower the flag, hence he must 'shin' up the pole to hang, or remove, the flag.
It is a tiresome process for one of his years. Plus, during the winter, there is always the danger of becoming 'stuck' to the flag pole should one's tongue hang out due to the exertion of climbing.
I believe he did state that coming down the pole is very, very easy, although the landing 'smarts'.
Given the results of the election, I took down the American flag from my house and threw it away (along with the state flag). I was intrigued by the McDonalds who flew the US flag upside down and at half mast as a distress signal.
I have a fairly large farm which has had the American flag flying over it. The US is finished ($24 trillion in debt when Obama is out of office) and will therefore fly the American flag upside down on my farm.
They should now fly "The Jolly Roger" over the white house.

Left thinks it just fine to pee or burn the flag in protest but when someone on the right uses it your only claim is you won the election. So does that mean only left wing cooks peeing and burning the flag is ok but the right protesting the flag is not . You might have won the presidential election but you did not win the right to say someone can not use the flag in protest . Unless you are now claiming you want to pass a law allowing peeing and burning as long as you flash your Democratic Party card
