Sometimes, in the workplace, people say or do the wrong things.

They say something wrong about the blacks or hispanics.

...about gays or women or President Obama.

Have you ever reported them and if not what held you back from stopping what they were doing in the workplace?

There is a big difference between slamming President Obama and saying racist or sexist comments in the workplace. One is just a political comment, which is probably best kept outside of the workplace, and the other could establish a hostile workplace, which is against the law.

Personally I have ignored sexist comments, but later the individual was charged with sexual harassment by the university where we all worked---based on reports by multiple women.

I heard plenty of racist comments in my 35 years of factory work but there was no point in reporting it. It`s legal and the bosses were no different than the idiot making the remark.

I think it's illegal to have a hostile work environment for workers. Racist, sexist, or homophobic comments would qualify. But I doubt if its enforced very often.

If we start turning in people for not being politically correct we are in HUGE trouble as a country.

Why on earth would I want to report someone for exercising their 1st amendment rights? I've dealt with plenty of people who had views that weren't considered politically correct, but I never felt the need to report them for vocalizing their opinion. At the most, I would point out what I disagreed with about what they said.

No. I don't report people on the forums either unless it's a obvious troll being particularly vulger. I would tell the coworker to go to hell if it annoyed me, then they wouldn't talk to me anymore...problem solved.

What?
No.
To those who would, I'd say get a life and grow a sense of humor.
Unless it upsets customers or something, who cares?
