What will banning plastic guns that look like a machine gun, or limiting clip sizes do? If some sociopath goes after a classroom of six year old children, it does not take much to kill them, they are tiny and defenseless. So banning some plastic, machine gun knock off, and limiting clip size will not save the children. It's not as if the kids could tackle and subdue the shooter, during the three seconds it takes to pop in a new magazine.
So we had and still have all those "deadly weekend" reports that involve shootings coming from Chicago and that generated nothing as far as gun control compared to this incident.
The incidents of multiple person shootings in inner city neighborhoods is way higher yet seems "accepted".

Wether a weapon is illegal or not has no effect on their ability to acquire them and a ban on these weapons drives the price of them through the roof on the black market (encouraging more crime). The only thing gun control will accomplish is keeping them out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. Criminals will get them and use them regardless of the law. I mean, drugs are illegal and they're extremely hard to come by, right?
