There's fear on both sides.

The only difference is that liberals are deluded enough to think they're exempt.

It seems to me liberals are the only ones with an irrational fear. Fear of what? Freedom? Themselves?
Do you know what the essence of Liberalism is????
I truly doubt it.

Anyway, it's very simple, "Towards a more just society".

Do you see any fear in this definition? I sure don't. Fear is not a component of Liberalism. Sure you can have fearful people who are liberals but that is their problem not liberalism's problem or cause.

FDR was probably the most successful liberal in US history. Remember what he said about fear when the country was in worse shape than any of us have ever experienced. "All we have to fear is fear its self".

The right fear financial apocalypse while the left fear dead bodies.

We have to stop spending or we'll collapse.
We have to continue spending or there will be dead bodies.

That's about what it comes down to.

Ha. Is this a serious argument?

What's the essence of conservatism? Does it have the word fear in it?

We fear too much gov't control, liberals fear too little.

This is why it's so frustrating to talk to conservatives at times. Most of you guys don't even try to understand the liberal position. You just make up a strawman about us.

Liberals also fear too much government. In fact, liberals fear too much of anything. We fear too much government, we fear too much corporate control, we fear too much lobbyist influence, etc.

Conservatives only seem to fear too much government. You guys don't fear anything else.

Look, I'm a business owner. When tax time comes, I really really really hate to see so much of my profits go into taxes. In fact, I really hate to see so much of my financial resources and time go into meeting regulations. But I also have a beating heart. Most businesses only care about the bottom line. That's how walmart is able to get as big as it is. They don't really care about people. I try to run my business with people in mind also.

Here's a perfect example of why you conservatives are so blinded by your fear of government that you don't stop to think other entities can take control.

John Boehner used to hand out bribe checks from the tobacco industry to his fellow conservatives. Why don't you guys fear too much corporate control? Why do you guys only focus on the government?

I built my business from the ground up. I've worked very long hours to get it to this point. I sure as hell don't want too much of anything getting in my way, and that includes government, corporations, peta, you, etc.

If you really want to have an intelligent conversation, please for godsake try to understand the other guy's position first instead of making up a strawman. Socialism is the last thing I want. I've worked too long and hard on my business to allow some lazy-ass scumbag to have a share of my pie. And I sure as hell don't want some large corporation to have an unfair advantage over me either.

Liberals are driven by their lust for Power and Control. All else is Masquerade.

Great argument. You just pulled definitions of liberalism and conservatism out of thin air, then declared yourself the winner.

That is brilliant sir.
