I only tip when the person does a good job, occasionally I'll tip for mediocre service, and I never tip for poor service, not even $1.

You all know Obama not my favorite person here.

However it is an individual right to tip or not to tip. I can understand that things are lousy still for a lot of people, a sluggish economy still.

But if you cannot afford to go out and eat, and also tip, stay home. Make your own pizza, as i do, nothing comes close to the taste of homemade italian pizza. Nothing, and make it as my Italian realitives taught me.

Econony is still not grand, but if you cannot afford to tip, don't tip but don't blame it on anyone but it being your own choice.

Your so emotional. I dislike people who attack "all" hard working Americans even those so called rich upper income people. ANd you democrats did everything you could to give them the shaft.

You detest people who "shaft" restaurant or servers? Why don't you answer my question. How many tables does a server typically serve in one hour?

Actually while I think of it welfare lifers should give up their welfare checks and pay more to people serving in our armed forces.

Funny how you think of welfare lifers when discussing waitresses.

They don't need $8 bucks for bringing me my food and drink I could have gotten myself...PLUS their hourly wage.

Could be me...I get NOTHING!

Overpaid?? Try abused - and you are probably one of those demanding pain in the ass customers that they have to put up with - food complaints, demanding, snapping your fingers as if you were important.

Their hourly wage is next to nothing.

You actually think you can walk into a restaurant and get your own drink and food? Oh, wait, you think McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King are restaurants or the local "restaurant" where you get the all you can eat buffet and it's self-service.

FYI waitstaff isn't responsible for the conditions in the back of the house. They have enough crap and garbage to deal with in the front.

You really don't get out much do you??

Their take-home wage is $7.25/hr (unless higher by state). Most wait staff make more than that hourly, however. We have people in my hotel restaurants that make over $100k waiting tables. That's more than I pay the day manager.

Sure... but seeing as this server obviously has a job, I'm not really sure what your point is here.

They didn't "stiff" the waiter. They left slightly less than a 10% tip with an explanation. If .gov wasn't demanding so much more in taxes, the couple might feel more generous when it comes to a GRATUITY.
Nah. They were probably always cheap, now they have an excuse to be cheap. At the minimum a tip is 12-15%. Many countries have the tip built into the bill because of people who think like you and the person in the article. You want good service with a smile, but frown when it comes to "paying" someone for the service provided.

So waiters and waitresses are Democrats?? Who knew!!! I thought they were people working and trying to survive. Would the customer have been a Republican and got a tingle down his leg stiffing a democrat???
