The issue people have is with the GROWING gap between rich and poor. The problem people have is that in 1981 the difference between a CEO and his average employee's earnings was about 30 to 1...today it's over 300 to 1. That's the problem. The CEO is taking the wages of 300 workers now when he used to take the wages of 30. That's 270 jobs stolen per CEO for their own greed.

I'm not an advocate for redistribution or any of that nonsense. I just think our tax laws need to be looked at...the capital gains tax needs to be made equal to the income tax and that alone will help our country immensely.
Well if you say the growing gap is a problem obviously you have a problem with the gap. So what is a good "gap" between rich and poor? The way liberals go on and on about income inequality it appears they have a problem with ANY gap in incomes.

The problem, as I see it, is that your income/wealth determines what kind of opportunity your kids have. As that gap widens, so does the opportunity. It's not realistic to expect people to end at the same spot, but your class shouldn't determine where you end up.

If you make more money and can afford to live in a better school district, who's fault is that again? Who had the opportunity to do the same and blew it?

The equality of opportunity is as big a myth as equality of outcome. It doesn't exist.

How do you know that they "blew" the opportunity? Please explain. Is it because they're not living in a suburb? Is it because their kids don't attend a private school? Please explain.

no, it's because they are poor. You only get out what you put in. Nothing is nor should be just handed to you.

Once again, your simplistic understanding of issues is peeping its little simple head out. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is quite the way you think they are.

If the opportunity and access to quality education isn't equal then it isn't equal. It almost sounds like you are blaming the poor for being poor. Granted, some people do make poor decisions, but others do everything they are supposed to and still won't be able to give their kids a quality education. Should their kids just suffer through no fault of their own?

My dad put me through college. I put my son through college and grad school.

Is that an example of something being "handed to you?"

Yes. They want equality of outcomes without anyone having to expend an equality of effort or personal sacrifice. Anyone who has actually worked, sacrificed, and earned what they have is an utter fool in liberals' eyes.
