it is a small increase which guarantees that we will be back again talking about the debt ceiling in a few months, unless the senate will actually pass a budget. it also contains a provision that forces the senate to pass a budget or not get paid until they do.
This is great news. The House GOP budget will be Paul Ryan's budget 3.0, which is exactly what the country doesn't want. The Senate can now pass a budget with less spending cuts, some tax increases, and entitlement reforms. The Democratic Senate will have the upper hand going into a conference between the two bills.
Gurbie, i'd recommend reading up on the subject of "political strategy." There's a rhyme and a reason to the way Boehner approached this situation. Maybe you can find the time to read up on it? I can assure you it has nothing to do with the President winning the debate.

Obama is winning the debate. He won the fiscal cliff debate. Now he has the GOP cornered, either they man up and specify what cuts they want or they look like fools if they retreat again.
3 big votes in a month -Tax cuts, Sandy relief, debt deal..where the TP were not a factor. Not needed. JB has his Establishment GOP/Establishment Democratic coalition. Awesome..the sane are at the wheel again.
We are spiraling further into debt, make no balanced budgets even after taxes go up, and we just raise the debt ceiling more.
If that is what democrats are proud of, I don't see a good future for this country.
