Our society has degenerated more than some societies in which there is much less crime. Children are left to raise themselves, with no fathers, alcoholic or drug addicted mothers - no discipline, no values...and I am not just talking about inner-city ghettos - this is becoming more and more the case in middle and even wealthy populations, and rural populations as well.
Really? Been to Eastern Europe? Been to Africa? I have. Guaranteed those societies are in far worse shape than ours with a lower prison population.
You suggested more prisons, longer prison terms, etc. We already have that, and it doesn't seem to be improving things. Some of the countries with the lowest populations in prison are among the safest.
There is basically no correlation. So building more prisons isn't the solution to our gun violence problem either.
Fair point. I think the focus on the AR-15 is due to mass casualty shootings, like Newtown. I'm sure you wouldn't be pleased if the focus were on taking away handguns, would you?
Focus on the most deadly weapons seems reasonable.
If you think the AR-15 is one of the most deadly weapons out there than you know nothing about weapons. I do believe you should learn a few things about firearms before you try to discuss them.
You said that you would want the deadliest weapon possible. How about a nuclear armament? I'm extending YOUR logic.
The point is there is no question that we limit the right to bear arms. The question is where is that line drawn and which side of it will the AR 15 end up on .
Arms, as far as I know, means anything that can be carried.

to lesson a given story's impact.

That's all people like this have, they cannot have a descent conversation, so they go to the extremes....to attempt to make people like you and me look foolish, except they are the ones (as this guy) is looking completely ignorant of the situation, and that is obvious.
Well, if you feel the need to have a hand grenade then have at it. You can either build one like the Aurora shooter did or buy one. (Hint, one is legal and difficult and the other is not)
