The story was featured on Fox 31 Denver. Second-grader Alex Evans pretended to throw a grenade into a box full of, in his words, "pretend evil forces."

"I pretended the box, there's something shaking in it, and I go pshhh," Alex explained.

Unfortunately for Alex, his exploits (heroic as they were) went against Mary Blair Elementary School rules. Those rules include no fighting (real or pretend) and no weapons (real or pretend).
2nd-grader suspended over imaginary grenade | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

These ridiculous rules are really getting out of hand.

The school rules are quashing creativity and imagination.

They will eventually have the end result of making children mindless robots.

I suppose that is what the liberal educational establishment wants.

Kids aren't allowed to be kids anymore.

Rules against 'pretend'.

While real criminals are out there doing their 'job'.

What a system.

Priceless.

S'long America.

Wait just a muinuet, when we were kids in the 1950s we played like that all the time and didn't become criminals .
We played Army, cops and robbers , cow boys and indians , and just plain kids having fun in the back yard with squirt guns , (probibly would have been more fun if they were painted black) .
How stupid america has become ,so sad .
I have met men that as children in the 70s played war games ,and because of that many of them survived the real wars they were in as adults.
How stupid america has become.

Wait... isn't it always conservatives who blather on about "schools should be teaching ONLY math, reading and science?" And isn't it also (usually) conservatives who say liberal arts & social science degrees are a waste? Make up your minds, LOL.

And yes, it is ridiculous to punish a child for playing make-believe. But I fail to see how this is a liberal issue, although you always do manage to slip that in.
