Because the simple fact is that if he was a white man named "Barry Obermann" (or something similar) we would never have had to deal with this monumental nonsense over the past 4+ years. Birtherism is based on the fact that he is black and has a weird Muslim sounding name. Absolutely nothing more, despite all the posturing and pontificating.

Hey- if Obama is legit, he should have no fear of examination of his credentials. Would you be offended, if you were the president, of someone wanting to examine your birth certificate, passport, and college transcripts?

he provided his certificate of live birth (COLB) and his "long-form" birth certificate (LFBC), both have been confirmed as legit by the HI dept of health, and the 1961 HI birth index is available for inspection by the public in honolulu . exactly what further documentation are you looking for?

He had the temerity to run for a job that in the minds of some is reserved for white people. He should have known that wouldn't go over well with a certain segment of the population.
one of the first hawaiian officials to confirm obama's birth was HI governor linda lingle. besides being white and a member of the GOP lingle also worked for the mccain campaign.

That's an easy one. He refused to give in to the completely irrelevant (kindergarten records? baptism records?), fabricated (adoption records?) ever increasingly idiotic demands that birthers continue to make of him. In the mind of a birther, not giving into stupid demands, demands which were never made of any other president, by the way, makes him responsible for their existence.
No one ever accused birthers of intelligence.
