I don't know of any zoning at the state level. It's all local (city, county, neighborhood, etc). As it should be. Government should be local. Period.
I agree with you on the greedy part. You've consistently put your own "wants" above folks that already live in an area where they are happy with the density. Your greed keeps you harping on how they should change to a slum density because you want what you want, where you want it, at the price you've decided you should pay. In your single example, you were so greedy that you weren't willing to pay the cost to split the lot, or move, or buy the whole thing.
Do I have that about right?
That is rich, it's difficult to argue that wanting a free market in housing and land use is putting one's "wants" above folks that already live in an area.
I lived for 25 years in a town where newcomers had increasing income and wealth, and the housing regulation increased over the years I lived there. What do you think a maximum unrelated occupancy of two individuals did to rents?
I was willing but not able to buy the whole thing - rental income from the second house would have enabled me to pay the mortgage but that's not how lenders work.
Because the economy isn't getting better. It's that simple. The libs think if they repeat something long enough and often enough it will come to fruition.
The graph from your article supports the article that I linked that said that Food Stamp use peaked in 2011 and is now the lowest point since the Great Recession. It's not obsolete.
Lowest point since the Great Recession? I don't which chart you are seeing, but I sure don't see it.
The percentage of people on food stamps has DOUBLED since 2007 and has only registered a mild decline since.

That barely looks like progress to me at all.
Creeping expansion of dependence on government. As the people continue to lose power, they will favor more government, and ultimately socialism. Exactly what Obama and dems want. And republicans will probably take us to the same place with their policies. Because they just plain fail at everything they attempt to do.
The independent spirit of America no longer exists. People will continue to sacrifice and lower their expectations. Anything for a false sense of security.
The biggest key to this thread. Food stamps raise the food prices for everybody. People on food stamps can afford to buy food the rest of us can't afford because we pay for it ourselves. If there were no food stamps the cost of food would go down for everybody.
Food Stamps really is a drain on the taxpayers. The system is wrought with fraud and theft and has been for decades.
Since food stamp eligibility is based on income minus (sum of out of pocket housing plus medical expenses), the only solution is to get rid of food stamps and the excessive regulation that makes housing so expensive.,

You can afford to buy housing that food stamp recipients can't. That's the basis of the food stamp eligibility formula. They qualify for food stamps because they're spending too much on housing for their income.

The entire 2015 expenditure was $69 billion, which is hardly a drain.
