I think it's absurd for you people to label all liberals as gun haters. I'm a liberal but I support the right of law abiding citizens to own and use guns to defend their families and property. That burglar wouldn't have walked away like that had he been in my home.
The reason that this man is unjustly facing three years in prison is because of liberals and their meddlesome laws.
There is zero reason why any firearm should be "licensed".
This man should be hailed as a model citizen.
Actually, he should just be allowed to peacefully move on with his life.

Where was his bodyguard? It has been illegal to own a handgun in NYC for years unless you need it for your work. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, but the sentence is way too much for a first offense.
The Second Amendment has been in effect for years.

Agreed. I'm a tree-hugging Liberal who has worked as a gunsmith, hunted for 45 years, and probably owns more firearms currently than most of the "conservatives" on this board.
Instead of the pejorative "Liberal", they need a new word. "Rational" comes to mind.

How many conservatives propose ever expanding anti gun laws? How many conservatives try and pass gun bans? How many conservatives propose and pass laws that prevent people from protecting themselves?

No, he was not .... that weapon is readily available to the majority of Americans, and quite legal. Only in the United Socialist State of New York, and other places like Chicago, has the State government chosen to deliberately ignore the law (2nd Amendment), and prosecute innocent people for exercising a God Damned constitutionally protected right!!
The politicians and prosecutors and police who engage in this type of criminal conduct (all swear an oath to defend that constitution), should be tried for violating their oaths of office, removed from their positions, and spend a bit of time behind bars themselves.
And if the clueless public would just get a clue, they'd stop defending criminal behavior of our government officials and demand that they obey the law too.
You can't use this word - according to liberals, it is a racial code word, similar to golf.
Regulated means to "maintain" or to "make something effective".
Read the wording - "a well regulated Militia, neccesary to the security of a free state, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".
The only thing that provides a well regulated militia is the people's right to keep and bear arms - for the purpose of keeping their state free of tyranny.
